Almost in the reverse of how their contribution as a player was valued, I rate them as Joey being the most valued as a media performer, then Dal, then Roo.

Dal sounds as smooth as the breakwater at Sandy. Roo is as wooden as Philip island jetty but has some insights and at least Joey is likable..and he is occasionally and accidentally brutally honest.

Do you mean their footy opinions? I just don't think I pay them enough mind to judge..I find a lot of these hosts have pretty canned responses. This is where Spud shone IMO...he could really say something incisive about the game.

Not only is Montagna a handy play by play commentator during the live broadcasts but he also does a fine job with analysing the game. Great all rounder and he’ll be in demand to co host a few shows in the near future

Dal has a head start on Roo because he’s been in the media a year or 2 longer than Roo but I think Rooy is fast catching up. Nicky Dal does more radio than Roo and that helps to lift his profile.

Rooy is stronger than Dal when he is passionate about something. It makes for more interesting viewing when ex players and commentators provide more than just the standard cliches and vanilla popular opinion. I’d like to see Rooy express his personal views more often. Especially when it is in support of the St Kilda FC

I have no doubt that because Rooy is so respected within the wider AFL community and from the viewing audience that his opinions carry more weight than the other two.

They're all good, Roo is very switched on, usually good insights, but Dal and Joey no slouches in that department. Certainly better than many others....get rid of Gary Lyon for a start
