Paddy / Fevola

Post: # 1673779Post StNoodles »

If there's one player Paddy reminds me of in the way he plays, it's big Fev.

Does anyone else see the resemblance?

Fev didn't set the world on fire in his first 5 years, but obviously became a match-winner, and had he been a bit brighter/more disciplined, could have even much better than he was over a much longer period.

Thoughts?

Fev's the nicest/most genuine bloke you'll ever meet.

Just seriously flawed/dumb

I look forward to seeing Paddy's accuracy skyrocket when he starts to build some confidence. He's a lovely kick

I agree Paddy will likely be a decent kick at goal, but the Fev was elite at that aspect.. had the ability to kick long ones

Hopefully so. Though he has been knocked out at a social function pre-Saints.

But yes Fev continued to make mistakes again, and again, and again!!!!!!!!!

PS: I thought that Paddy actually showed some promising signs today.

I'm pissed off with today's match but I guess I have to lower my expectations.
I thought Paddy worked well and with better supply (and slightly cleaner hands) it would of been a huge step forward. Instead it was a baby step forward.
McClunken, Bruce and Membrey in my opinion should all play together every week and we play our way until we get it right.

Yes, that was a pre-season or post-season game (depending on how you see it). What a strange idea that was to have a footy match on NYE.

McKlunkin should actually clunk a mark?!

I find it a bizarre concept moment to say that
"If he had cleaner hands he'd have played well"

He didn't/doesn't have clean hands, that's the issue?! Key forward generally do have good hands!

Yep, agree. Riewoldt's injury, making it difficult for him to play midfield, has thrown a spanner in the works and upset a promising set up.

Did you watch any of his games last year then? Had the mitts of a god

Only the highlights because for most of these games he was injured for the majority of the game time

So did Bruce
So did Membrey

WTRF are we doing to our forwards????

So we've highlighted a couple of grabs in a season.... as a key forward. Yesterday he dropped 3 sodas that a local footballer would take!

Hands of a god?!

FFS
Stewart Loewe and Nick Riewoldt - great hands - great forwards - from a young age -
BTW
Stewie a b&f by 22
Nick a b&f by 20

Paddy is a battler

Sorry guys Paddy has shown very little. I want him to be good but I don't see it yet. Two dropped mark, very little impact, he moved up the ground to help out at points yesterday which inflated his stats but over all a bit disappointed. I would leave him in the vfl for two months as he simply isn't ready yet. Once he kills vfl week in week out then bring him back. And for an easy game not a tough one

A key forward should take 99% of marks on a lead when he gets two hands on it and the opponent doesn't connect with a spoil. Paddy just doesn't have clean hands and drops sitters
Example: his first lead against Sydney, two hands to it and drops it.
There were some very easy marks missed yesterday.

He definitely moved better yesterday and was good in the last 1/4.
He is treacle slow and not agile or good laterally so he must start clunking his grabs when the opportunity arises.

And for those lamenting teammates not honoring his leads just take a look at Roo and any quality forward.
They lead, back up and go again and again. ATM if Paddy doesn't get his first lead honored he stops, he needs to up the work ethic in this area.
