Re: Match Sim 1 vs Essendon

I just watched replay of the main game. Lots to like. Yes it was only a practice match, but all players were on the same page re the game plan, and execution was pretty good. Bonner a skilful distributor off half back. Perhaps this will allow Sinclair to be released into mid field . The Henry/ Hill ...

Re: Match Sim 1 vs Essendon

Gotta love the way the story is written up on saints.com.au "The Saints will field a near full-strength 26-man squad for their first hit-out of the year against opposition...Jack Sinclair (calf), Brad Crouch (knee), Hunter Clark (concussion), Paddy Dow (knee), Dan Butler (ankle) and Zak Jones ...

Re: I would love the club to officially recognise Mike Patterson.

I don’t think the Swamp Fox needs special recognition, but I disagree that he was a dud. In 1977 under Ross Smith we won 3 and drew 2 matches. In 1978 , Patterson was coach and we won 11 and drew 1. It was a fun season. He got us playing a very very tough brand of footy - the Baby Bombers still whi...

Re: How about this West Indies team!

An excellent performance by the West Indies, playing with wonderful spirit and focus, not distracted by extraneous issues nor burdened by arrogance.

Hopefully next time they will be given a third test .

A fascinating five test series is just beginning with India hosting England.

Butler not listed as a non-runner in the report above, but presumably the second ankle op has sidelined him . He usually finishes somewhere near the front.

Re: A moderation discussion - opinions sought

Skeptic - as I said in a PM a few weeks ago , I reckon you are doing an excellent job. The true test however will come if the team loses its first 3 or 4 games and we start turning on the players, coach and each other !

Re: Dan Butler Ankle Setback

Agree his year was very solid. Kicked 33 , understands and implements the game plan and his role in it. In our best 23.

Having said that, there are 15 or 16 others whose absence would be more keenly felt. Anyway, glad he will likely be back in January.

The 1-4 year players are back on deck tomorrow, scheduled to be 9.30am for those that can make it down.
For those that can’t, I’ll put up a training report!
Thanks - that would be greatly appreciated. I hope you do your study tonight so you can work out who is who between the new lads !

Re: How Well Did We Do?

With all the academy stuff, the first round went for 29 ( or so ) picks. If that is replicated next year, and if we finish mid table, our 3rd rounder is mid 50s. We thus have not given up much.. a bird in the hand…

There have been 13 deals done last night and tonight, and we have been involved in 4 of them. Good to see SOS up and about. Of course they could turn out to be crap, but on the face they all look sensible .

Re: AFLW finals

However it plays out, they have done a great job to give themselves a chance . The bounce back from a 0-3 start to win 6 of their last 7 is impressive. More impressive is that ( starting with the last quarter comeback in round 4 v Pies) they have started playing a good brand of team footy. Well done...

We were horrible last week - seemed not to handle the trip to Perth well, and never looked like it. Today however was fantastic. Great pressure all day. Defended superbly into the wind in the second quarter, and kicked away. Huge game next week against the Blues - win and we are a chance to play fin...

That would be so great for the entire club
They will be a fair chance to do that .

Freo - we should win.

Bris - likely loss.

Carl- we are even with them on the ladder, but we have been better in recent weeks.

Re: AFLW Sainters with a hat-trick‼️ 🎩

We were very impressive early and continued the hard-at-it style from recent weeks. Once we skipped 4 goals clear in the 3rd quarter our pressure fell away. I think maybe the girls thought they were over the line. Hawks came strongly and suddenly we were only 8 points up, into the wind with plenty o...

Not sure how Jack Higgins finished 8th ahead of Mason Wood. I actually thought Butler had a slightly better season than Higgins. I agree with both your points. Wood had a better season than Higgins and, although Jack had a couple of stellar games ( which probably got him into the top 10), overall D...

Fred Swift 1967. Neville Crowe was suspended and missed Richmonds's premiership. Which was desperately unfair. That gutless thug John Nicholls feigned that Crowe had hit him in the semi final, the umpire got sucked in and reported him; and at the tribunal Nicholls did not fess up to his acting and ...
