Re: Recruiters
In this very non-exact science of Recruiting, our recent success indicates that for the first time in many years, our new recruiters know their game. Let's hope that good decisions can be made again this year ........ and luck is with us. Our ladder position and upward direction will be a big advant...

Thanks. Nice light read.
I got the feeling that I was there too
It sounds like we will be in for a fast shoot-out, which looks the way to go.

Re: This is why we play. Together we rise
It's great to be in the finals again. The excitement is back and the boys must be wrapped at their opportunity, especially, operating out of Noosa !
Grab the opportunity and Go Saints.

It's not so bad for a bunch of young blokes living and training in Noosa during a very cold Melbourne winter.
Probably more difficult for older coaching/admin people with families.

Re: Saints are in the finals!
A great win last night. As others have said, we haven't just limped in and we have an almost full list (except Gresham).
A good chance now to win next time we play. Prefer to play Melbourne than Bulldogs.
It's a nice feeling to have that "finals fever" again. It's a game at a time now.

Re: Umpire No.2
25 - Shauan Ryan - top umpire - 346 AFL games and last 3 GF's. Great Experience.
27 - Andre Gianfagna - only 32 AFL games !
32 - Jacob Mollison - 238 AFL games and 2 finals
Source - AFL Umpire Stats.
Seems like a good choice and mix of umpires. Let's hope that we do not notice their presence !!!

Hi SaintPelican66, Welcome aboard. This site is full of experts, so new blood is always a good thing. This site is also full of old farts, but there is plenty of Saints history here, to fall back on. Like all sites today, put your head up and somebody will always want to shoot it down. However, don'...

It's a pity that we missed most of the Questions!
Selectors have a few challenges around "balance" and "opposition fit."
The saints Media People should be all over these fundamental interview problems with microphone set-ups.

Parker has upside to his game. Lonie & Kent have plateaued. Parker is worthy of more games.

Re: Ryder and parallel universes
A good insight into the background thinking/planning on the best way to use two rucks.
The combined skills of both works well for us, but no doubt there will be "horses for courses" situations.
Paddy at centre ruck bounces seems to work best for us.

Re: Analysis of tactics against Port
A very interesting inside look at footy today. The old sayings - "see football, get football" and "you don't need brains to play footy," are now as ancient as Stonehenge. Still, we need very good players to execute the strategies properly, as well as adjusting from quarter to qua...

Good point Mr Magic - makes sense to me.
I prefer Long's attack and Pattons defensiveness - good balance there.

Re: Billy Young
At full forward, Bill Young put some real excitement into St Kilda at a time when there was none. A bag of bones, Bill's style was built around his quick leads. After a great first 12 months with his accurate kicking, other teams got on to his style and crunched him on his leads. In those days, the ...

All is looking godd at the moment.
A few niggling injuries to others is probably to be expected. Geary will need to be at the top of his game.

It's looking like a very strong backline, with options galor. Competition for spots will bring with it, maximum effort. Jake has the ability. Hopefully, he can put last years injury and attitude problems behind him. There have been other much lesser contributors. Best wishes Jake and fingers crossed...

Apart from Geary, Wilkie would be the next smallest player of that group.
The addition of Howard and if Roberton can get on the park, we now look very solid down back. I like the consistency and reliability of Wilkie's performance.
