Re: Why do teams suck so badly at the Gabba?
I don't know if it's that teams are bad at the Gabba, or that Brisbane travel poorly. It's not a ground with a significant size or shape advantage like the SCG or Kardinia Park. It's 3m narrow and 4m shorter than the MCG. 9m narrower 3.5m shorter and than Docklands. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022...

Re: Phillipou
Phillipou looks lost at CB I’ve not yet seen him touch the footy at a centre clearance He’s going to be a fine player But really, if he wasn’t tagged as a high potential player and was rated on actual output- he’d be criticised In other words If Billings, Byrnes, Hill or Gresham were averaging 10pp...

Re: The Silence: AFL’s Last Taboo
To paraphrase the view from an ex-player I know well who is gay: - "I didn't care if my family and friends knew or didn't know I was gay. I didn't care what my teammates knew or didn't know and the majority definitely knew I was gay. I never actually came out - it was just a thing that everyone...

Re: Mass exodus
Is what I’m hearing The word is Gresham - gone Clark - gone Billings- gone Coffield - gone Jones - gone Howard - maybe gone? About 4 kids gone too Adams, Allison, Connolly, Bytel In Dow, J Silvagni, and a buck of 3rd and 4th rounders I am at a loss as to why you’ve been so strongly criticised for v...

Re: So are we better than last year ?
The natural improvement of Wanganeen-Milera, Owens and Windhager plus the addition of Phillipou = improvement From last season we lost Ryder, Hannebery and Geary all of whom were not consistently on the park plus we lost Long also in and out of the side That is the personnel comparative Injuries ha...

Re: Mass exodus
I don't understand , ar any level, the idea of trading Marshall. One of the top 5 ruckman in the league....one of the few things we have going our way. Throw in the context that RTB has always really liked his rucks. Had King and Gardiner in our first run and had 2 rucks for a chunk of his time at ...

Re: Mass exodus
The way people just make things up on here and then others pick it up as factual narrative is shocking. Literally zero public/media talk about an 'exodus' Most of players on that list- which again is fiction- have been mentioned more as being shopped around or potentially not playing football at al...

Paddy Mac retires ...
Finally. Hopefully this is the last chapter in what was an all-round sh!tshow - both for Paddy and our club.
All the best for a long and healthy retirement Paddy. Go well.

Re: Had there ever been a more reviled player than Gresham?
He’s really taken supporter disquiet to a new (low) level. I mean, there’s always the usual whipping boys (eg Ross, Howard etc) but they’re a bit more of an eye roll … rather than the genuine disgust, bordering on hatred - that pervades No. 4. I don’t know one of our supporters who even tries to de...

Today was the day I became convinced that if Dougal wants to go then , he can. Zaine looked every bit the Premiership defender.Hawkesbury Saint wrote: ↑Sun 13 Aug 2023 10:34pm So impressed with Cordy’s game. Gee he looked good.

Re: Reality
What didn't change was the lock Steele, Crouch, Ross, and Marshall have had on stoppages. I'd be expecting some change in that department. I expect Marshall Crouch Steele and Clark to start in the centre against Richmond... I expect Sinclair to go in at stages to replace Clark, Crouch or Steele, as...

Re: Batch's latest review
Membrey came straight back into the side earlier in the year. How well did he do? Played 4 games for 3 goals at an average of 11 disposals a game. Caminiti 17 games for 19 goals at an average of 9 disposals a game. Membrey's first game of the year was against Carltoon and he absolutely dominated th...

Re: Batch's latest review
If Membrey was fit and raring to go, he should have played against Carlton I can't believe that he 'needs' to show he's capable at VFL level before getting the call up. I understand that Cooper and Caminiti are young and need games and I understand that King offers a point of difference (having a 6...

Re: I have a feeling ....
My thoughts are we won't win another game this year, making it a season like 2022. Only this time it won't be the coaches fault, the list that Fred thought was a good list will be blamed and changes made, how many and who gets moved on will be something to see. I'm looking forward to the trade, dra...

Re: I have a feeling ....
Might come down to how Jack Steele plays. I have a feeling he is playing sore/injured. And if Jack Higgins can get his set shot accuracy above 50%. I have a feeling he's got the yips. Feel for both. I agree but, if he's not playing sore or injured then it's been a Ollie Wines-like fall off a cliff

Re: Hawks game V Carlton game planning
I thought the second half just exposed the slowness of our midfield, especially on the second effort and chasing. I get what you're saying however, their midfield on Sunday was just as slow as ours. Cripps, Hewitt, Docherty are pretty much the same as Crouch, Steele, Owens. You always look slower c...

Re: Hawks game V Carlton game planning
FFS ppl on here make this so complicated. Nothing at all changed at half time in the coaches box. A shite missed free kick cost us momentum going into half time with a 5 goal lead. Carlton were dead and buried at that point. During that first half - the only coaching move that I could discernibly no...

At 57 he’ll coach into his 60s He’ll be the longest serving coach without a flag in history! Rebuild Doesn’t work… You just continually build! Re: Self-Flagellation
I am sorry but a mini-rebuild is the issue. A mini rebuild is what you do when you are at the top and just starting to slip because of a few older players not when you are middle of the pack going nowhere. We are in a position where the coach has one of two choices: one go all in saying we should b...
