The Saints players name was Fred "Flops" Phillips and apparently he was a legend for the Saints and the fans favourite back in the early 1930's. He was offered the playing/coach role at Hawthorn which at the time was only a very young club VFL wise. As we know, Hawthorn have the most disgu...

It happened in the 1930's.

The player made the top 100 St.Kilda players of all time as per the book written by Russell Holmseby in 1995.

Hmmmmm, what can I come up with?

We once had a much loved player who left St.Kilda to become the coach of another team.

This gentleman caught an infection from the dye from the new teams footy jumper. Unfortunately he died before he even coached a game.

What was his name and what was the team.?

That jogs my memory a little.

I think there was a wartime lightning premiership played at the MCG which we won. We beat the tigers I think? The quarters went for about 5 minutes each.

Must be getting closer now.

I'll have a go.

I think we won a "Night Final" in about 1958.

It was called the "Lightening Premiership" and was played at the old Lake oval between the teams that missed the finals.

Am I close?
