Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)
I actually feel sick about this. This is exactly what everyone has been fearing. St.Kilda promised a "big fish" so now we're going to pay overs for a bloke in a position that we don't need. I like him as a player, I enjoy watching him. Reads the play well, as brave as they come. But just ...

Re: Jimmy Bartel's take on the Saints' 2017 season
Haven't we got enough running defenders with supposedly elite kicking, or at least in development? White Rice McKenzie Newnes Savage Webster Roberton Say what we like about McKenzie he's not going anywhere and Saints are going to pump alot more development into him. And I don't care what spellcheck ...

Re: Team v Eagles Riewoldt, Stevens in for McKenzie, Lonie.
glad to see Stevens in and McKenzie unlucky, can't see Lonie getting back in the team for a while now. all of Stevens, Acres, Steven, and Dunstan can effectively rest forward and all can kick goals, so in terms of balance don't think we need more than two full time small forwards i.e. for this game ...

Re: Match Thread Saints v Port Round 19 2017
our inaccuracy continues to bludgeon us, we got 21 scoring shots (at leas). you have to ask questions about the coaching and the selection now, think Marshall could have been a game winner for us today. this coaching panel has no respect for aerial contest. generally speaking we've been horrible thi...

Re: Team v Port
Port haven't beaten anyone decent since the first game of the season (Sydney), all other wins have been ordinary teams other than the Tigers who have also beaten them (in Adelaide). We are fifth in the comp for disposals and Port are twelfth, but Port are number one for inside fifties and we are ele...

pleasing to see the club admitting mistake with Battle and doing the right thing.
makes you wonder though, I've seen Battle a few times at Sandy this year, and he was never ready.

Re: Paddy misses 2 weeks with concussion!
When he last went down I must admit I thought that could very well be it. Without knowing anything about it, I would guess the management plan would be along the lines of: * get knocked out you get a test and resume as normal * second or third concussions test and monitor carefully * any subsequent ...

Re: Umps
I feel the umps and the commentators basically cr*p over the game much of the time.
Do we have eleven umps per game now? It's a joke. Add the match review panel and tribunal.
Last it was the upstairs ump's turn. Using what should be for howlers, into spectacle ruining conjecture.

Re: The effect of "Sledgegate"
We are just not ready. Recent history shows clubs choke when they are expected to take the next step. I give you Richmond, Port, Melbourne. They were all going to be powerhouses last year. This year it was us, we were just going to walk into the 8. Any development means 2 steps forward and one back...

Re: Judd sinks the boots into saints...
If Gresham can build a tank I reckon he'll be more useful mid than what Petracca will be. Also Billings has had much better stats than Petracca - I know that's not the comparison but, it still counts! Petracca's got that dicky kick, and dicky head. Judd is a Melbourne supporter from childhood. He's ...

Re: Next week
Feel we need leggy players, and players playing in their natural spot: DMac - he's a winger Billings - more forward and outside Acres - centre Weller - centre/tagger Still need more marking targets so bring in Hickey, Marshall. Lonie probably deserves another crack as genuine crumbing forward for Gr...

Re: Richo says Bruce in. Webster likely
Webster will give us needed drive out of the backline but need to change our style of play also, and move the ball along aggressively by run and foot more directly up the ground. And not overuse the handball.

Re: We need to fix this and fast.
We've gone from a fast paced style to a wannabe methodical move the ball around find the open man and switch whenever possible style with useless handball chains that embarrassingly don't come off. Seemed to make the transition for the Carlton game, to beat them at their own game, instead of backing...

Re: Team v dogs
is Richo forcing our midfield, by way of on field development, to not bomb it long, work it in, and find a target on the chest? run the risk of Wood having a field day. just hope Acres, Steele, and Stevens can take some, as all are tallish and strong above the head. glad for Savage he deserves his s...
