I reckon it's 30 years ago today, 4 August
... since Darrel Baldock had his stroke and had to stand down for the rest of the year. It'll be 30 years on the 8th since Plugger kicked his first ton (the day before Hoddle Street).

Re: I want to see us tackle to hurt.
Yeah that's a fair point. I suppose what I'm saying is I'd like to see a little more killer instinct.

I want to see us tackle to hurt.
I don't care if we give away the odd free or even 50-metres. I want the opposition to be sore when they get up so they either think twice the next time they go near the ball, or can't get to it.

Keep fighting the good fight mate. I had an aunt who was told she had 12 months. We had her for another 19 years.

Re: A win
We did that in 2009 and still missed out.
And as for those who are bemoaning the fact Roo is still our best player, he'd still be in the best player at almost every club in the competition so I don't know why it's such a bad thing for us.

Does anyone know where the umpires train?
I'd love to find out because I'd love to attend and give them a verbal serve. Someone needs to hold them to account. Something has to be done. I really want to know if they cheat or if they're just naturally crap.

Good on him! May his good health continue. I was talking to someone from Cancer Council Victoria yesterday who said the five-year survival rates are now something between 64 and 67 per cent for all cancers, whereas only a couple of decades ago it was below 50 per cent. Even though Roughy's cancer wa...

Re: Cam O'Shea
With so many players already in that 19 to 23 age group, and having delisted 7 players this year, it's going to be hard to know who to offload next year. Selecting just two 18 year olds this year won't be such a bad thing, from a list management point of view. My guess is we'll only be able to make...

Re: Gilbey's Gin training jumper
Does anyone have a pic of one they can post? Was it black with red collar and cuffs (or white collar and red cuffs) and white writing on it? I had one as a kid around 1983/84. Not sure if it's the jumper you want but have a look at this site (about half way down) http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/mic...

Thanks so much WW. I thought there may have been a photo of the players wearing them during a training session but I can't even find a pic of that.White Winmar wrote:I've got one buried somewhere in a box in the garage. I'll see if I can find it and get back to you. Got it for my 21st in 1983.

Re: Koby Stevens
I haven't seen a lot of him, but my memories of his games were that he was a ball butcher. Can someone please tell me otherwise? Richo won't mind. 80% of our team are average with the footy. A lot of our good ball users end up playing seconds. Pressure and this year ramping up the tackling are the ...

Re: Barretts Comment RE: St.Kilda expected Trading
Given the club stopped a couple of players traveling with Martin a few years ago I can't see him joining us. I have a theory - and it's nothing more than that - two first round picks to Freo - this year's and next - for Fyfe. We won't next year's if we get a free agent. Freo passes them on to Melbou...

Re: Channel 7 The Final Draw on now
Any more reasons for my deap seated dislike for Nick Maxwell came to the fore again. His is a head you just couldn't resist kicking should the opportunity arise. Johnson a smarmy Maxwell imitator. Someone at the Saints told me that during the last quarter of the replay, when the game was all but ov...

Re: GWS vs DOGS.
It's a case of the old family pet (Swans) that's been shoved aside for the puppy (Giants) that has come into the home (AFL). If the Giants win the flag you won't even see, let alone put up with, a single Giants supporter gloating over summer ... unless you know a member of the AFL executive.

With the Saints to return to Linton st in 2018 . Afterall the Anthony Howard Lockett elite training facility may have people laughing ! Shades of the Harold Holt memorial swimming pool. Re: Message to the Club, don't deal with Essendope
I know a few people who are quite senior in the media departments at a couple of AFL clubs (other than ours) and they say all the other clubs are pretty good to deal with off the field except for one - Essendon.
