Re: 5 years Dan Hannebery?

Sydney posters on any board you want, rightly savage on Hannebery after his 12 disposal 41% efficiency effort on the weekend. Before anyone jumps in to say just how injured he has been and how he copped a corkie during the game I'll summarise what they had to say. Fringer. Doesn't go in anymore. Pis...

Re: Sam Gilbert

Can't belive Saints team stood there and waited on the other side of the ground for Waite to give him a bloody send off. What for? Guy hasn't even played 200 games? Our blokes should have done a guard of honour for Gilbo His kicking was bloody brilliant tonight as well. Well done Gilbo So right. I ...

Re: Add in Lycett and Hannerbrey for 2019

Someone who can break the lines and kick it to a team mate would be good. That’s not Hannebery.

Re: 5 years Dan Hannebery?

Yes you’re right he’s towing the establishment line PS. He’s contracted at the Swans for another 3 at 800. We’ll have to wear that even if we spread it over 4 years with a “trigger”. Why would we take the risk he can get back to his best? Why would we view everything through the prism of his current...

Re: 5 years Dan Hannebery?

Halftime and big surprise slow Hanners has stunk it up in the same way he has for two seasons. Can’t get near it. Zero evidence of gut running but instead a demonstration of how he fails to get to contest after contest. Worse, watching it with a room filled with Swans supporters all of whom of cours...

Re: How dare we recklessly sell our future?

I wouldn't call it reckless. We did get Austin & Claravino with the 2018 2nd & 3rd round picks, and they are young tall defenders who are looking OK - hopefully will shore up our backline for quite a few years. Plenty of clubs are using future picks to get players/better their draft positio...

Re: Saints target Menzel

At least he can kick straight. f*** me, it seems Lethers is into everyone. If he costs bugger all then he might be worth it. Injuries are an unknown though. Might be better off targeting Fasolo who wants out IMO. Fasolo? Rarely fit, a coward, selfish, clinically depressed, loves missing to the near...

Tony Shaw? The same Tony Shaw that most Collingwood supporters believe was not only their worst coach (30-58) but a poor judge of player ability? The racist? The dumbarse?

Re: Hanners Watch

Of course it's the latter because, unsurprisngly, we have been trying for two seasons to find an experienced quality midfielder who will come to us and we haven't got anywhere near it. Looks like our only chance is a, past his best, mate of a club official and we go for it. On our form fair enough b...

Re: Pierce and Paton in

Keeping Pierce on the list has been up there with our dumbest moves and we did it solely because we're broke. I agree with other posters that, in our current position, giving everyone on the list a go is a good idea and as someone who has seen a bit of the dolphins this year I agree double concernin...

Re: 5 years Dan Hannebery?

As posted already, for me the only relevant consideration is whether Hannebery can still play football at an elite level. There's no evidence that he can. By all means trade out pick 4 if any club is silly enough to give us two first round picks for it but can we please only on-trade one of those se...

Re: 5 years Dan Hannebery?

Agree with all the above. Of course we’ll get him cheap because we’ll have to pick jp his inflated salary. Sydney need the salary cap relief and he is going downhill fast. The real question is why we would bother with such a poor idea but we worship mistakes.

Re: 5 years Dan Hannebery?

But Stonecold he’s going like a busted arse. Even the more level headed forum fans have called for him to be dropped so he can have an extended break to see if he can recover some vitality. His form looks a lot like Armo’s. Says he’s over OP but looks like it limits his training at best.

Re: 5 years Dan Hannebery?

Sorry, forgot to add that he is small, a poor kick and has suffered from a range of differing medium-term soft tissue injuries and OP over the last two years.
Beams actually wants to come back to Melbourne. Pies can’t afford him. Is still a wonderful player, great kick, goal-kicking mid etc etc

Re: 5 years Dan Hannebery?

Can’t get to repeat contests on the SCG. Treacle slow. A shadow of the player he was. Go to any Sydney board and see what their fans have to say about him. They’re crazy with excitement at the prospect of any transfer at all of his employment.

Re: Lewis Pierce

Leaving to one side the strong opinions expressed here as to which of the two is better, given they're both fit at the moment, it looks as though the selectors prefer Hickey. Personally I've never met any supporter of another AFL club that has shown the slightest interest, since Ben McEvoy's departu...

Re: Top 5 pick...what to do with it

If we keep playing the way we are currently we won't finish low enough to get two first rounders. As the current recruiting team are doing the scouting for this year's picks we're odds on to keep the pick and select the fattest or the sickest or the tiniest or most cowardly draftee available.

Re: Lewis Pierce

Neither of them are worth a cracker on the trade table. Unless we recruit a ready ruckman we'll have to retain Longer as a back-up. Lewis Pierce can and should treasure the goal he kicked in his lone appearance.

Re: Tom Hickey

Why on earth would the club be playing Longer at Sandringham if he was injured? How would that help him to recover so that he gets a shot at getting his spot back in the ones? How would it help the club in any way? What it is doing, whether he's injured or not, is showing that most ruckman in the VF...

Re: Mature recruits

Our recruiting is of course v poor. Haileybury would have more scouts than the Saints. Worse, even when it is crystal clear that a player won't play a/another senior game (Eg Pierce) they're retained on the list while they're contracted because we're so broke we won't pay out even a minimum wage pla...

Re: VFL RD 5 Sandringham Vs Essendon

Should have added that Paton was good today. Played on the wing but saw plenty of it, ran to the right places and his disposal was generally good. Doesn't look like much but can play.
V disappointed to see Lonie named in the best. Apart from a few attempts to start a scrap he was unsighted.

Re: VFL RD 5 Sandringham Vs Essendon

Battle was good one out in the first quarter but he’s not particularly tall and his opponent has taken the points since then. Yes we’re being flogged around the ground. Beaten in the ruck, second to the ball, marks not sticking. Freeman our best so far and still upright.

Re: VFL RD 5 Sandringham Vs Essendon

At the game. We kicked into the wind second quarter but that was no excuse as we turned it over coming out of defence many times. We don’t have much down there. White was solid when he went back. Rice showed his usual good judgement but is still small and slow. Only White and Austin are capable of f...
