Re: AFL great Carl Ditterich charged with child sex offences
Yorker… just to add as well. There’s really no need for the humility that you’re demonstrating (though it is nice). You used the term ‘blundering in’… also tough. One can see your query did not come from a bad place. I’m a very big advocate of the idea that these questions need to be asked and answe...

Re: AFL great Carl Ditterich charged with child sex offences
What's the statute of limitations these days? There isn’t one for sex offences Have to wonder about timing though, whatever the merits of the case. I am confused by your comment. Why would you wonder about the timing? I was going to ask the same. At the risk of getting ahead/words in mouth/leading ...

Re: In Garcia, Windhager Out Hastie Jones
The argument here is a bit in the middle here for me. I think it’s reasonable that Bytel could have had more opportunity in the middle and to play full games. I’m that sense, yeah I reckon development was stifled but as suggested… he obviously wasn’t rated internally amongst the decision makers. Tha...

Re: Crab watch
Vs Brisbane 17 possessions 9 kicks 8 handballs 3 tackles 0 goals 77% DE 2 score involvements Average game Not great but not bad I think that’s a generous assessment 6 touches to half time… a complete non-factor when the game was on the line and slipping away. Melbourne started the last quarter with...

Re: In Garcia, Windhager Out Hastie Jones
I’m in the middle ground here with subs. I don’t mind players debuting as subs but if you’re going to give them a crack, give them a crack. Collard came on for the last quarter v Geelong. And then got replaced by Butler who has done SFA since returning from injury. Seems like he’s building his fitne...

At the risk of overreacting… Be nice everyone. Let’s not start trouble where there isn’t any and feel frustrated by the fall out. Back on topic - does Manuaka actually present a challenge for GWS that we could exploit. I have no idea how to even go about planning against them. Which mid do you even ...

Re: Phillipou Close to Signing
at the start of last year he was calling for (and taking) some really nice high marks. He kicked some nice long range goals. I know he is focusing more on a midfield role this year, but it seems to me like weve coached out his natural instinct to call for and fly for marks. I feel like weve taken a...

Re: Max vs Ben
The reason Max does not lead out to receive a kick is that our game plan is to kick to a pack and either grab a mark or create a stoppage. If he played at a club where he was allowed to use his ground speed, marking power and agility he would be a 60 to 70 goal a year forward. However, under Ross h...

Re: Max vs Ben
If you put Cordy up there instead you would not need to use your best defender to negate him because he is not a sufficiently strong contested mark to cause you any real problems up forward. Agreed on all fronts. Don’t get me wrong - my suggestion wasn’t meant to be a desirable alternative. Like yo...

Re: Owens
Thought he was pretty poor I think he is our most overrated player That isn’t to say he is no good but he is not as good as some supporters carry on about! I’d have thought 15 possessions for a half forward and goal would have you salivating for the incoming Brownlow. I certainly haven’t heard any ...

How do we fix the forward line?
Last time I can remember it being consistently functioning effectively and looking dangerous… the line up was so,etching to the effect of: Phillipou, Caminati, Gresh Higgins, Cordy, Butler Then as some of those players pushed up the ground, Owens and Wood would drop in Here’s what I remember of that...

Re: An early season test for our coaches
I don't know what people issue is with Byrnes. He's one of the only players I see having some kind of impact in tight. I'm not sure, maybe I have to watch our poor moments more closely but it feels like pretty much everyone was turning it over in the first half, so why single him out? The first thi...

Re: An early season test for our coaches
If you have too many developing players in a team it isn’t going to win many games. We already have Caminiti, Sharman, Owens, Phillipou, Wilson and Hastie, and presumably Windhager will come back in next week. And now you want to add Bonner, Schoenmaker and Garcia. It’s far too many! Not really wha...

Re: Crab watch
My call at the end of 2023 was to move on 2 of Dmac, Jones and Billings. Too expensive and injury prone to carry them all.
My choice of the three was to keep Billings. I pbly stand by that as he pbly offers more value than Jones… but I can’t say I’m losing sleep over it one way or another
