i hope i am wrong. but i have a feeling this years trade week is going to bite us in the ass in 2-4 years time. have a feeling lynch will be good at adelaide and walsh will turn into one of the best fwds in the comp. our list of talls just took a beating. Lynch - no. Not up to it. Walsh, well he ma...

Nothing. Hopefully there will be an interview at some stage with Walsh and his manager down the track. The Saints had accepted long before this morning that Walsh wouldn't stay and the Sydney offer they accepted was close to what they were originally offered and were always going to take.

If you were 22 and one club could offer you $250k a year and another club only half that, and the club that could only offer you half has not given you a senior game in 2 years, and the club that could only offer you half is unable to increase their offer, and you are likely to walk regardless of w...

Great comments about Walsh! What an experienced liar. Bodes well for years of spin ahead. Seriously? He said Walsh was required, off the table. Walsh didn't want to be required, put himself on it or he walks. Of course but the coaches' comments were from this morning and at that stage St Kilda had ...

It's amazing how the more often a player is mentioned in trade discussions the higher his worth rises in the minds of supporters everywhere. Sydney have traded pick 35 in a shallow draft for a guy who has shown a bit in the two's and who is more noted for not playing than for what he's done... a slo...

As the clock ticks down on trade week Bakes is trying to get to GWS and there is interest in him. If not now then he is still some chance to be drafted by them.

I understand that the decision, but not necessarily the announcement, is to be made at a meeting this evening.

Garlett wouldn't be the worst we could find. He played v well against us last year and racked up big numbers week after week in the VFL this year only to be ignored by Scott until one week he added 9 tackles to his 35+ possessions and was grudgingly selected as the sub. He reads the play well and h...

Just re-signing Winmar was an extraordinary commitment based on what he's shown to date. He can kick the ball well but his VFL form is woeful, he hasn't got anywhere near it and most who've seen him play would presume that the occasions he has been named in the best have been designed as encourageme...

He's obviously a great negotiator... took a request for a 4 year unconditional deal on a very reasonable $650k p/a from one of the best coaches going around (and in fact one of the best we've ever had), tried to impose a lesser deal (with conditions), managed to oversee the relationship between clu...

Calling for sources on the CEO's salary package will be futile. No-one will give up a source good enough to produce that information. Nevertheless I'm confident 700 is near enough (and anyway his salary is less than half the problem) and am happy to add the good news that his contract contains the s...

Re: Should Nettlefold be sacked?

[ He should have re-signed Lyon when he held the whip hand in discussions earlier in the year. He tried to save money, waited and lost. would that have been when the club offered an extension of 2 years- despite the then current team position- taking him to 2014 (3 years in total) and the former St...

Re: Should Nettlefold be sacked?

I've had enough of him. Can't see him moving us forward. The bloke seems lost and not up to the gig. Thoughts? what the eff has he done wrong? ok the cash loss wasnt great but everyone knows the stadium deal at etihad stinks. he negotiated with ross's management in good faith. a coach going behind ...

Saw a fair few VFL games this year. Of those who played against us I wonder what posters thought of Collingwood's Sundberg (especially his game at Trevor Barker Oval) and yes I know he is a bit one sided. The other player who has always impressed me as lovely kick, great reader of the play and class...

Exactly! Staring blankly and repeating unconvincingly "the spirit and intent of the contract is that Ross Lyon will coach in 2012". Well actually no. A fixed-term contract containing a notice period for its termination prior to the end of the term is not a fixed-term contract at all. Wait ...

It's all very well to wear the corporate tie, stick out your lantern jaw and spin until you're giddy. All very well to be be paid more than the coach, be paid in fact more than twice what the Prime Minister is paid, but where is the sense of corporate responsibility? Where is the accountability? The...
