Re: I'm tired of it YOY

Year on year is usually an financial term to describe comparisons between years. In reality, positions 4-14 are very close and I don't think you can even come close to picking a top 8. It will almost certainly come down to luck and injuries. The comp equalisation strategy is finally working. Until ...

Re: 1985/86 Southern Saints Supporter Cards

No thanks, I used to go and watch us and I reckon those two years were the all time worst as a St. Kilda supporter.

Re: Bogy team(s)

It must be the Adelaide-based teams. Geelong at Sleepy Hollow only. We've beaten them away from their taxpayer-funded dung heap often enough to disqualify them from true bogey status. As for those Adelaide teams, as other posters have pointed out, we don't get many chances to play them at our home....

We've not beaten Geelong twice in a row since 2010. Round 1 presents a nice opportunity to end that.

Re: David King on St Kilda 2024

We are not as good a list as Sydney Untrue. This is vexing. On paper we should be better than Sydney - however - game against them are never easy to pick - they seem to have our measure some times - and we run over them others. As always - it depends on the St Kilda team who hop on the bus. Amen to...

Ok
But nothing special

Considering they go to him every time they go forward
Fair enough. But teams always had to play their best key back on him (and sometimes more than one defender). They (and we) won't have that problem anymore.

Re: I would love the club to officially recognise Mike Patterson.

I think the real end of the 09/10 era was 2017 That was when Roo and Joey retired, Dempster finished up, Gilbert finished up. It was rebuilding time again!!! In Clark, Coffield and King Nah, there were a few retirements in that final match of 2013, Milney, Blake and Kosi, but we also lost Goddard, ...

Re: I would love the club to officially recognise Mike Patterson.

Anyone of my vintage would know (born '63), that St Kilda were sliding into the abyss just as we were hitting our teen years. We were too young for the glory, but now, he were gutted. Then came the 1978 season.... And it was as if we were back. Although we fell in a mighty hole mid-season, we recov...

We beat Sydney with pace and outside run last year at the SCG. I think we look like we will be a quicker team this year going by our inclusions.

Re: David King on St Kilda 2024

On balance, I think we are clearly better than these teams atm: Essendon Fremantle Geelong (at Docklands only) Gold Coast (in Vic) Hawks North Richmond Swans The Bulldogs The Eagles And that's being realistic/conservative. Based on our 2024 fixture, this gives us 13 wins again in 2024. I reckon that...

Re: David King on St Kilda 2024

Predictions mean SFA. I think it suits our team to be underrated. We could finish anywhere from 5th to 15th. I think we’ll finish around 10th. I hope I’m wrong and we finish top 4. I reckon a 13th place finish (as predicted) is a bit ridiculous though. Was that Kane Cornes? I’m still worried about ...

Re: I would love the club to officially recognise Mike Patterson.

I think the club just wanted to bring Jezza in as coach, but yes, I have heard that story too. From memory we had a great preseason, even beating Carlton and hopes were high. I still remember how deflated everybody was when Melbourne (who weren't rated highly) beat us easily at VFL Park at the start...

As a coach old Swamp Fox was a real St. Kilda legend, right up there with Alan Killigrew.

No coach worth his salt would put up with players lying down on the field after a run. Jeans certainly wouldn't. Neither would Mike Patterson.

Re: Bet the house on Ross

That's an interesting comment. Seems like the press have found something to stick their boots into. Now Ross has too much power. I wonder if the same could be said of other successful coaches? Let the media stick their boots in, it's probably going to take a few generations to end it, and that's if...

This ride might bring us a premiership, or it might not. But I think we are a far greater chance of giving it a shake with RTB in charge. We will at least go close. Of that, I am sure.

This screams of another one shown the door because he dared to disagree with Ross the boss. I know I am in the minority but I really don't like Ross Lyon and cannot understand why he is touted as some kind of supercoach. He has only had success, moderate success at that, when he has been handed A-g...

Re: Simon Lethlean finished at St. Kilda effective immediately?

People underestimate how much of a workaholic Ross is plus he is very intelligent. So effective immediately means sacked. The Board has stepped in. Seems like Leathers has f***ed up. He's the best coach St Kilda have had bar Jeans. I have no doubt we will be in the hunt again. You'd be crazy to wri...
