Re: Dunstan ACL

I don't get the animosity towards St Kilda from Dunstan. He showed promise early but never got any better and we carried him as one of the AFL's worst performing onballers for a solid hundred games. At any other club he would have been in the same position that he's been in at Melbourne - playing re...

Re: Steele Rumors not going away

A fully fit Steele with a pre season under his belt would make a world of difference next year. Terrible idea to trade him unless there was something very very valuable coming back

Re: Mass exodus

This version of Lyon seems a bit less stubborn and thankfully he's clearly ditched the four year apprenticeship philosophy. Sharman has worked his way into Lyon's good books which I don't think would have happened during Lyon's first stint. We persevered with Windy until his form came good and to an...

Re: Mass exodus

I could definitely see Paton playing 150 very solid games in his best role of shutdown small defender at another club. That is unless he's genuinely still compromised from the broken leg. Quite a strange fall from grace - he was an absolute lock in our starting 18 pre injury. Paton played some pret...

Re: Phillipou

Pou has been carried for a good chunk of the year to fast track his development. No better time to gain experience and enhance development than September. I do think that he shouldn't be played in the midfield during a final but keep him on as a high half forward. We'll get a lot more value in the l...

I think Hunter is an excellent choice for sub. Lacks the tank to play a full game but can play a variety of roles and win a lot of the footy in a short period of time.

Re: Kid Caminiti

Has almost passed Max. Marks, kicks goals and is constantly giving off handballs. You can rein in aggression… hard to build it in. I like Hammer but I wouldn't go that far. He's played 16 games and kicked 19 goals. Max kicked 52 last year. Hammer should make it if he can clean up his disposal and i...

Compared to the last Hawthorn game, Sicily had 17 fewer disposals, 9 fewer marks, 14 fewer intercepts and 8 fewer score involvements. Massive game from Sharman

Geeze we've got a big list of players I wouldn't mind letting go. Daniel McKenzie (Restricted Free Agent) - Cooked, retire Hunter Clark - Two year extension Jack Bytel - One year extension or trade for any pick under 40 Jack Peris - One year extension Jade Gresham (Restricted Free Agent) - Unsure. Re: Sinclair to the midfield

Agree with general sentiments here. He's an elite half back but doesn't have a complete midfield game. Don't mind him running through there if he's struggling with a forward tag or if we need a spark in the middle but it shouldn't be our go-to strategy.

Re: Dropping "star" players.

Lyon is nothing if not stubborn. We were promised a new version but he's reverted back to his old ways. He has a squad of 26ish players that he's willing to select and the fast offensive game plan devised by the assistant coaches has been binned with the classic dour Lyon style back. Steele clearly ...

Had a poor couple of weeks after being outstanding all season prior. Brisbane have some seriously tall forwards though which makes it tough for Wilkie who is a bit undersized.

Re: Team vs Brisbane

We need a big bodied midfielder who can impact at stoppages. We don't have any right now. Bytel is as good as it gets based on his VFL form. Questions asked about if he deserves a spot on the list next year, when better to find out than when we're under the pump in that area. Disagree Now is not th...

Re: I think RTB has a test on front of him!

Byrnes has dropped off massively. Cracked 20 disposals in 6 of the first 8 games and has not managed it once in the past 5. Maybe he's tired or maybe he's gotten comfortable. Same goes with Seb, who had 24 or more in his first 6 games and only cracked 20 once in his last 6. That one time was against...

Re: Billings Mackenzie Jones........

I do have concerns for Phillipou. He plays like a player that has been pumped up all his life about how much a star he is (or will be). He reminds me a lot of Billings. Silky smooth, a star in the making, a natural talent etc etc . Therefore my question, is he actually doing the hard work behind th...

Re: Billings Mackenzie Jones........

It's pretty crazy to think that we have zero games this year from Billings, Jones, McKenzie, Coffield and Hayes who I think are all best 22 when fit and firing.

I'd say we have zero games from the real Jack Steele as well.

Can’t see any mention of Caminiti in any of the above appraisals. I’m curious how he is regarded. My sole concern about Ross Lyon is Silvagni He’s not set the world on fire re list building Danger is he reverts to type and goes Carlton mad …if we pay overs aka 1st round picks for TDK (who I’m not convinced we need) then bring in jnr Silvagni ….I think we are heading wrong direction and will und...

Re: Elite

Sinclair and Wilkie are elite - there aren't any players who play their roles and are clearly better than them at the moment. Marshall is in the top tier of rucks along with Gawn, English, Witts, Darcy and Grundy. Does that make him elite? Steele's usual standard is elite but he's a shadow of that r...

Even though his numbers are decent in some regards he has not played a single game up to his usual standard this year. Clearly hampered first by the collarbone and now knee. Would've liked to see Bytel or Windy get a shot at being a starting mid while Steele was given time to recover

So watching Pies V Dees Couple things stand out 1. We are nowhere near these 2 - their midfields just win stoppage after stoppage on the move I'm not saying that we're better than either team, but last time we played Collingwood we were +6 for clearances, +3 for centre clearances and +21 for contes...

Re: How injured is Mason Wood?

He looks fairly hampered but is still performing a valuable role. The fact that he self diagnosed himself as missing a month or so when he got the injury suggests that he's in quite a bit of discomfort. I'm guessing he continues at his current level of output for the rest of this season, gets surger...
