Re: Billings

Has taken the crucial step - like Seb Ross took last year - of becoming consistent. His "worst" within games and week to week is still solid, and his best is outstanding. Today wasn't his best game (cf. last week) but he was still in our best half-dozen. The exciting thing is that he has t...

Re: VFL Rd 11 Sandringham vs Werribee

Freeman actually had 37 touches?

Even if only 60% were effective, that's still a pretty good game.

Heard that McKenzie and Savage were good - anyone confirm?

No coincidence that we started losing when Webster broke his hand.

Most underrated player at the club.

Re: Changes v GWS?????

None.

Last time, GWS smashed us for run.

Can't afford to lose a runner for a tall as some are suggesting.

Longer gets one more week but on what I've seen so far this year, Hickey is the superior footballer.

Re: Riewoldt milestone in exalted company

His quality over a long time has put him in a rare group of exalted players. Mike Sheehan grades him down saying his impact on finals wasn't huge but that's downgrading him due to the fact he didn't win a premiership. He has played some massive finals games, the 2009 final against Collingwood stays...

Carlisle is starting to do things that will make him a star again.

His goal off one step in the last was tasty.

He has some serious ability.

Re: Saint Nick 2018!!!!!

Nick is probably the greatest athlete ever to play AFL football.

He is a legend of the St Kilda Football Club and in the top dozen players of his generation (2000 - now).

He can play until he's 40 if that's what he wants.

In order to qualify for an assist, the person receiving possession must convert it to a goal.

We haven't been converting many goals, so this doesn't exactly surprise.

Pies made a big play for him 12 months or so ago.

Hence the promotion to COO.

Being groomed to take over from Finnis.

Very highly regarded within the industry. Would be a huge loss.

Re: Holy shyte, we are $11M in debt!

We are effectively a guaranteed subsidiary of the AFL, so the debt (within reason) doesn't concern me. What is more concerning is a lack of sponsorship interest. This is indicative of either (a) a lack of market presence / attractiveness of our brand; or (b) management lacking the skills / capabilit...

Re: Hickey or Longer?

Hickey is a much better footballer, and capable of performing at a higher level. One pre season game does not a season make. If you compare Hickey's 2016 season (20 games) against Longer's 2015 season (18 games), Hickey: averaged more disposals and more marks averaged the same number of hitouts aver...

Agree with this.

Billy did what he did in 2015. Won plenty of hitouts but didn't offer much else. Reminds me of Trent Knobel.

Hickey is twice the footballer in my view.

Re: Match Thread v Blues JLT 2

Paddy's best game, purely because of the consistency of his involvement.

Has done something influential in each quarter, and worked hard the whole game.

Might not have hit the scoreboard, but has really contributed as a target and link-up.

We have a stronger side on the park than the Blues, but we are still playing okay.

Cripps and Weitering are playing, but no Kreuzer, Casboult, Murphy or Gibbs

I now see why we recruited Jack Steele. Kid could be anything.

Been a bit lucky with Carlton giving away free kicks, but we are capitalising.

Rice is moving okay too.

Re: Reasons to be cheerful. Reasons to be fearful.

Beveridge said to Finnis and Summers that he would turn down the Bulldogs offer and honour his commitment to the Saints if we wanted him to. What a man. I would argue that Beveridge, Longmire and Cameron - arguably the three most successful coaches of 2017 - showed that you don't need unique or revo...

GT has done pretty well since he finished with us. Made a few million out of Clear View in NZ, although he's spent $2m+ in legals fighting for it the last 5 years. Trial finished mid-year, $20m claims both ways. Will be interesting to see the outcome. He's done very well in Ferocia with Dom Pym - I ...

He tried pretty hard to get another gig at AFL level last year according to a couple of people I know.

Just to be clear, Kingston Council is unanimously supportive of the redevelopment, and is very enthusiastic about the new facility and welcoming St Kilda back to Moorabbin.

We have the Council's full support (or at least we did prior to the recent election).

This is one resident pushing an agenda.

Re: FREEMAN OFF TO GERMANY FOR HAMSTRING FIX

From someone I've spoken to (club director), this was part of the strategy to manage his injury. Our club's medical staff wanted to spend this year starting from scratch to rebuild and strengthen his hamstrings correctly, and understand where the weaknesses were. The end result of that process (as I...

Re: Thanks to an absolute champion - Chips calls it quits

Underrated footballer. Injuries in the last 3 years meant that the footballing public forgot how good he was. Regularly dominated games in 08-10, in one of the best teams in the AFL in that period. I still remember Mick Malthouse saying after one particular match in that period that Fisher was the m...
