Re: DeGoey
He played well. His pace in foot races to get to contests was especially noteworthy. But he wasn't the player who cost GWS the game. That was Lachie Ash (no.7). Last week, I can remember thinking that you can't have someone like him on the backline - he gives the ball away with poor disposal or poor...

Re: Would Ross Lyon make the difference at Melbourne?
If only we had bought Steven May and not Dougal Howard. Melbourne seemed to be robbed of one goal and possibly two. I couldn't see any bent fingers in the one that was declared touched and Max Gawn hit to ball onto the post but could have been behind the line when he did it. It shows how teams must ...

Re: Bye bye Maynard
... Well a precedent has now been set that you can run directly at player front on who is carrying the ball and launch yourself at him or her as he or she disposes the ball without actually effecting the smother and cannon into their head without fear of retribution. ... That would seem to be the c...

Re: Cordy or Dougs
... Jimmy is our Stevie Baker without the Jeff Fenech. Steven Baker was an exceptionally skilled player. He could kick either foot, handball both hands, take a contested mark and most importantly, pick up the ball cleanly when it was in front of him. For his size, he was as good as anyone and he wa...

I hope his eye is OK after someone stuck a thumb in it. He had to play with his eye closed for most of the second half. He has had his best year in my opinion - certainly his most consistent. Despite that, I think he can get fitter and stronger. Or should I say, he needs to get fitter and stronger. ...

Re: The match
On a positive, how good has Sharman been. Surely it’s time to give him a good run next season. Sharman probably our best but we went out with a whimper ... He wasn't in the top ten of the ground and is a dud once the ball hits the ground. He is as slow as wet week. RoMa was BOG by a mile.

Re: Who will win and why Gws vs SAINTS
Max King needs to be off loaded whilst he still has AFL currency. Dropped marks are one thing, but you can't have a player who just stands there and watches his opponent run down the ground. If he's not fit - get him off. Been held in contests. Should have had 4 frees. One free, but that doesn't st...

Pathetic effort with his last shot. Once the ball hits the ground, he's useless - so he has to mark the ball.

Not being an emergency, I hope Anthony wasn't out on the beers last night. Then again, he's only 19, an age where the body is still very forgiving. It seems the AFL have given permission for him to play.

Re: Bye bye Maynard
The media debate on this sort of incident continues to alienate me, as does some of the commentary on here. All I can hear is the same old crap that was thrown around when Giascura jumped up and elbowed Kosi in the head back in 2006: after which Kosi was never the same player again. You know what I...

Re: So nice to be playing tomorrow.....
I was watching Errol Gulden last night. Not only can he kick the ball well (but only on his left, he slices it as a get out kick instead of going to his right), he has an uncanny ability to spot players on their own - in an instant. On the other hand, most players can't - like Blake. There was a tea...

Re: Bye bye Maynard
High Contact, high impact, reckless, Collingwood player = no case. Really, Maynard chose to jump straight into Brayshaw, and by launching himself into the air which guaranteed that the hit would he high and hard. He also hit him with his shoulder. Brayshaw was in the act of kicking so had no chance ...

Re: The Silence: AFL’s Last Taboo
The usual suspects have completely misinterpreted the OP and the ABC report. It's not an issue of other people wanting to know what a person's sexuality is, or people being forced to reveal their sexuality, it's about a person being able to express their sexuality openly (if they wish) without discr...

Re: Final V GWS Friday night (Sportsbet said) but now Saturday 3.20pm
My understanding of the commitments made between the AFL, the MCG and the state government relating to the funding of the reconstruction of first, the Northern Stand (2002), and then, the Southern Stand (2018), is that all Victorian finals will be played at the MCG, with the possible exception of th...
