Re: The Ben Long Deal

Typical St.Kilda we recruit him at pick 22 put 5 years of hard yards into him & just as we start to see some reward we trade him out at pick 32 + a fourth round pick 😕

That and he would tease, do some great stuff and then follow it up with some shocking stuff. Did that in the second half of the year with Freo as well after good first half.
In their 2 finals appearances this year Acres was very good IMO

Re: Looking forward to 2023?

We have lucked out with the academy players & NWM will request a trade next year . We have 3 or 4 genuine keepers the rest of the list is negotiable IMO so pretty hard to be too up beat about next year . I'm a glass half empty bloke when it comes to St.Kilda & IMO we will struggle to do any ...

He was happy at St.Kilda we moved him on & I know for a fact he wanted to stay we told him his prospects of playing senior football at St.Kilda were remote so you might want to explore your options . Pretty much threw him in as a sweetner for the Hill trade when we didn't have to .Typical St.Kil...

Re: Looking forward to 2023?

Our list is far from perfect but with some smart trading/drafting and a reasonable run with injuries we could sneak into the finals. Lenny will make a big difference to our midfield and get them playing with an edge. If we can snag a decent forwards coach who can sort our goal kicking accuracy we a...

As much as I think the Tird is a drug cheating f-ck it would have be gratifying to see him fail again & get sacked for the second time .

Exactly. Nothing to do with relevance. Everything to do with the size of the offer.

Lots of uninformed whining on this site lately.
So with your informed judgement what do you expect next year ?

Re: How good are Geelong and how far away are we .

Back on us v Geelong, we are a pretty good football team with a couple of pieces missing from the puzzle. Good decisions made this year and next will see us being contenders. Bad ones could see us stagnate in that 7th to 13th zone on the ladder You'd swear were worse than North Melbourne judging by...

I stand to be corrected but the last team to beat Geelong was......us? On field talent is one thing but the major difference between Geelong and St Kilda is Geelong supporters don't talk there club down. IMO that is not true I know lot's of Geelong supporters that were very unhappy with the the clu...

There are countless threads in the last 15 years on this forum that talk about the pillars of a footy club and how you build sustained success. It starts from the top. It starts with an administration that is competent, and has consultation and is ambitious and is harmonious in it’s pursuit of exce...

Re: Thank You, Matt Finnis! 🙏

As pointed out by someone else, Finnis inherited an awful Docklands stadium deal, a second rate rate training facility away from our heartland and an already hefty level of debt. He pulled the levers with the Kingston council, the AFL, and the state government to get us back to Moorabbin in an outs...

Very hard to compete with a destination club . Hat's off to Geelong for creating that culture & environment that has players wanting to go there . They have been there about's for 20years we can only wish to be that resilient
