Re: Some good news.

Unfortunately, things look decidedly grim for James Van Es.

More ankle surgery after more damage done. That's his season over. The club will need to be super cautious with his rehab. It worries me that he may have the kind of damage that could be career threatening

Re: Aberration or reality check or both?

The negative noise is pointless. People who say our list isn't good enough then go off their nut when the team doesn't perform like the Harlem Globetrotters evey week. If you accept the weaknesses in the list then you have to wear it when we have the odd game when things don't work out. Currently, w...

Re: Excuses

The pitchfork mob on here are running through the village again We have a lot of senior players out We've had two five day breaks in 5 weeks We have one stinking loss, and once again the froth spews forth from their mouths in incandescent rage. Never ending anger and negativity Tiresome and predicta...

Re: Next week

Collingwood came off a bye. Port have not had a break yet. Fresh legs won the day. A lot of Port players looked similar to our guys on Thursday.

I just hope our guys can freshen up a bit before next Friday

Re: Aberration or reality check or both?

We lack midfield talent and on top of that we have Henry, Crouch, Dow, and Clark out to make the situation even worse. We are minimum chips in there at the moment. It's a real shame none of those guys are fit. It would have been interesting to see them in the mix week in, week out. Yes it was bad ag...

Re: Injuries have derailed our season

Interestingly, all the teams who had a bye in the first 6 weeks have played either West Coast, North Melbourne, or Hawthorn in that period, too. GWS got lucky with getting two of those teams Geelong have played two of those teams in 5 rounds. It just shows that a combination of the draw and injuries...

Re: Injuries have derailed our season

Carlton, Brisbane, Gold Coast, and GWS all had byes during that period, too. Swans and Collingwood had byes last week and will come in fresh this week.

Not all games are equal. Not all situations are equal.

Re: Injuries have derailed our season

Combine a host of injuries with very short turnarounds and it makes it harder. I can't believe anyone could think otherwise

Re: Injuries have derailed our season

Coming into Round 5, this was the number of injuries to senior players at each club. Things have changed for a few clubs. Carlton's situation just got a lot worse as did GWS. Ours got a bit worse, too Geelong 1 GWS 1 Gold Coast 1 Port Adelaide 1 Collingwood 2 Bulldogs 2 Sydney 2 Brisbane 3 Fremantle...

Re: Tough Schedule

It was pretty obvious watching it live that the players looked fatigued. The scheduling was a factor. These guys are human, not machines. We don't have anyone to bring in.King, Crouch, Hayes, Webster, Howard, Henry, Clark, Dow, Paton and Wood all on the sidelines with no confidence that any of those...

Re: Match thread Saints v Dogs

Only two players played with genuine energy and hard running and they were Hill and Windhager. We know Hill is an aerobic freak and Windhager had a rest last week. I don't think it's a coincidence. Our scheduling in the past three weeks had a lot to do with that loss. The other is the fact that we h...

Re: Match thread Saints v Dogs

Unfortunately, I was at the game tonight. It was apparent from the 8 minute mark of the first quarter that there was a real lack of energy out there. Very sluggish. Players were not getting to contests, unable to spread. For the first time under Lyon we looked disorganised. I'd like to think it's do...

Why did he not cite Nick Vlastuin's dangerous tackle on Dan Butler a couple of weeks ago? That was more dangerous than the Cameron one.

I stick to my assessment of him

Re: Tribunal a new level of randomness

Michael Christian is a spineless fool at best. At worst, he is corrupt. Get rid of him. He is an utter failure. He should have been shown the door three years ago. I think we would get better decisions made by a couple of old drunk guys at the local pub. Everyone is sick of the incompetence, the inc...

Could we get a selection surprise this week?

Collard and Hastie were taken off at Half time on Saturday in the VFL. There was zero mention of them being injured. Could this mean that they have been earmarked for the Bulldogs game? It'd been pretty amazing to have four first year players in the line up at round 6 Then again, maybe I've been sni...

Re: Arie SCHOENMAKER

He's playing quite well. He has some things to work on, in particular his tackling (or rather his willingness to). He tends to let players get around him far too easily and then doesn't follow up with any urgency. I think this may partly be because he doesn't have a big tank and doesn't accelerate q...

TheNotSoGreatZacsby, I'll have you know I once karate chopped a 1m length of balsa wood with my bare hand.

My assistant, Mr Batfink, was suitably impressed

How dare you question my mastery of martial arts!!!!

Re: Trade King

His goal kicking is a problem. He's never going to be a smash and bash forward. He has to lead more. He gets held off the ball all the time and struggles with it. Someone should send him to a martial arts specialist to teach him how to get out of the grips of his opponents off the ball

It certainly does deserve its own thread.

He's got that manic attack on the contest. Energetic, aggressive and quick.

He's a keeper

That's two we can give a tick to from last year's draft.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Giants Round 5 2024

We actually matched them from the 2nd quarter onward, but made appalling errors that gifted them goals and denied us of them. Take those half a dozen howlers out and we win the game.

Some people on here say we're badly coached. If that game had been under Ratten or Richardson we'd have lost by 80

Against Bombers, multiple unforced errors. Lose by 4 points

Against GWS, multiple unforced errors. Lose by one point.

Hill, Steele, and Marshall were awesome. Garcia is a keeper.

Appalling miss by Caminiti. That kind of stuff, when you're struggling to stay in the game, is demoralising
