Quote from Hughjarce "I am perplexed that people think we have a senastional list. The only A grade player in our team is Reiwoldt. A smattering of B graders like Hayes, S Fisher, Montagna, Dal Santo, Ball then a load of C graders and a couple not up to AFL standard." Haven't you forgotten...

The Saints showed in the 1st quarter against the Dogs that they CAN hit top gear and make the tall forward structure work. It is not that Hayes, Dal Santo and Ball lack speed, rather it is the new system of rapid and constant interchanges that IMHO caused the Sainst midfield to falter after Qtr Time...

That should help Roo & Kosi improve their kicking for goal - double the width they used to have!

In my previous post I'm not suggesting that Riewoldt become a permanent CHB, simply that in circumstances during a game when the 3 tall forward structure fails, as it did in the 1st quarter against the Blues last week, the coaches move Riewoldt to CHB when the opposition had all the forward momentum...

I am completely 100%, totally in favour of Roo playing CHB and I regard Patrick Smith's analysis absolutely correct. Against the Blues the Saints forward structure was dysfunctional, as is evident from Kosi's failure to be involved in the game. It has to be horses for courses, and the coaching panel...

What is clear to me from the possible line-ups against the Swans is that St Kilda's backlines remain a major concern. Apart from Sam Fisher there is not another KP defender if Max fails to regain full fitness, and against the likes of Hall, O'Keeffe, O'Loughlin and Davis the Saints could find themse...

S.E.Q. SAINTS & VIEW HOTELS AFL TIPPING COMPETITION 2008

For Saints supporters who want to enter a tipping com that offers good prizemoney, this is excellent value, and the best part is that it is run by a very committed and passionate Saints supporter. The more people that join, the bigger the pool of cash at the end of the season. S.E.Q. SAINTS & V...

Slogans

"Believe or Burn" was the slogan that some marketing guru came up with to rally the troops for 2007, and I must admit that my initial negative reaction was a portent of St Kilda's season 2007 - we had some fine moments of joy but overall our team failed to produce the results we had all so...

An important point to remember when considering an understudy for Max is that the Saints have arguably the best FB of the modern era as Assistant Coach. It would be interesting to question Ross Lyon about Sos' role in identifying and grooming a new FB, and to learn who the leading contenders might b...

Full-Back

All going well the Saints appear to heading into the 2008 season with a formidable list, far superior to recent seasons that we all felt had so much promise........ The addition of Steven King, combined with a strong likelihood that Michael Gardiner will finally be fit to play will give the Saints a...

I agree with Peanut, GTs demands are excessive and contradict his statements that he really loves the club. If he feels badly done by then he should adopt the attitude of his former team-mates who accepted just a few cents in the dollar of what they were owed years ago when the club was in a bad way...

" Thomas said in his post-match press conference the defence and ruck needed bolstering, with both departments brave but just short of class ." The above is a quote from GT's press conference following the 2004 prelim final loss to Port Adelaide. It was a game that the Saints could have wo...

Why Brooks was delisted

Heard today from a source related to one of the players that the reason Brooks was finally delisted is that he lacked real drive and passion to be competitive - he could certainly play but "wouldn't harm a fly", which was often exposed at closed one-on-one training sessions. It explains wh...

The meeting with Greg Westaway at Riverview Hotel (courtesy of Brett Saunders who is a great Saints supporter here) was attended by 15 which was quite good considering Brisbane based supporters don't normally get together. I found Greg an engaging character, very keen to talk about our club and spok...

I will be sending the following letter to the President of St KIlda FC tomorrow, by email to: reception@saints.com.au. GT's legal action for $270,000 from St Kilda appears a stark contradiction to his regular public claims that he is so passionate about the Saints. Not content with a fat contract for 5 years, he now seeks to dig deeper into the club's coffers for further rewards. What he fails to understand is that ...

My take on this subject is that it is a waste of time to dignify a journalist's malicious speculation with reasoned response.
