I think tomorrow is the first fully fledged intra club match before the practice games against opposition begin next week.

Re: Arie Schoenmaker’s club punishment
I cant believe posters are happy to write him off because of where he was drafted. To acheive the ultimate sucess we need all our recruits to get the best out of themselves and have sucessful careers. I understand all wont make it but we need to be picking the right kids who give themselves the best...

Its an opinion piece its difficult to see how it could be founded on any stats - so I wouldnt be getting bent out of shape over their ratings.

Re: Our midfield/wing options 2020 v 2024
If we can win first use of the footy this year, we will slice teams up on the outside similarly to Collingwood last year.
Contested marking is something we need to improve in as a group.

Re: Reserves competition
There's one reason a curtain raiser game will never be revived, and that's concentration spans. The youth of today can't spend more than 5 seconds of not being plugged into digital media let alone sit in a chair at the footy for more than one game. I once heard the AFL investigated even shortening ...

Re: If we were to win the 2024 flag is 100,000 members a possibility???
Can we win the 2024 premiership? - Potentially. A lot has to go right. Steele for Brownlow, King for Coleman and Wilson for rising star. Rowan, Steele, Sinclair and Wilkie are all Australian. 100k members? Without a chance no way. The age and physical conditioning profile of the list is still stati...

Lets hope the clubs media staff grab him and do a welcome to the club interview before too long. Apart from a short interview when he was at the Swans I dont know much about him. Be nice to get some incite on where he perceives our list is at etc. Incite or Insight? Yep sorry thanks for the correct...

Re: Will Keeler be the real deal??
Somewhere between Paddy Ryder and Spencer White Fact is though Ryder was a #7 draft pick at Essendon and was a potential star as a junior Keeler is more speculative Has a high ceiling but may not reach it. I think in the last 3 seasons we have finally got everything right at the club - facilities, ...

Re: Riley Bonner picked up by Saints in pre-season draft
Bonner might be ok but given the number of similiar players on the list, I am surprised we didn't look to rookie a ruckman or key defender eg Vigo Visenti, Emerson Jeka, Patrick Voss or similiar.

Re: Herald Sun - Top 30 Draft Picks since 2000
Far too often we traded out of the first two rounds, which in part was driven by our attrocious drafting record. You only have to look at the sucess rate and games played by 50% of that list, it makes for very ordinary reading.

Re: Round 1 - Cats vs Saints
Round one team selection is going to be fascinating. Caminiti vs Sharman? Does Seb get a gig? Wilson? Howard vs Cordy? Can Paton force his way back now that his injury is well behind him? Do Webster and Stocker hold their spots? Where does Windy play? Does Pou have to truly earn his spot this seaso...

Re: Time trial
Its apparent that since RTB and the current Football Dept have been at the club the training standards and expectations have lifted significantly. The other thing that has helped is bringing in talented and driven kids into a program, it raises the bar for the older players as they see they can work...

Billings and Gresham were the highest paid and under performing players in our recent history. Supporters are allowed their opinion on each, but for me I am not sorry either have left the club, even if we are playing some of Billings salary.

Re: Saints snare Simon Dalrymple
I wonder who Dalrymple will bring in to replace Roughead? Hopefully he has someone in mind... Just listened to the Podcast, you wouldn't say he was a great media performer. Very dour monotone style, doesn't sound like the sharpest tool in the shed, so hopefully he is a better recruiter than radio pe...

Re: Will Jack Higgins go up a level?
Great player and has got another gear, he'd be happy Gresh is now gone, I don't think they got on that well together. To find that gear he just needs to be more consitent by continuing to develop his running and defensive game to keep Ross happy. Struggled in some games adjusting to have to defend ...

Re: Best teams
I'm pretty sure that Jones, Ross, Hill and Campbell will not be offered contracts at the end of 2024. So the development of Dow, Windhager, Henry and Heath will all be vital next year. While Crouch, Steele, Hayes, Membrey, Webster and Wood will all be 30+ by the end of 2025. Making the longer-term ...

Re: A pair of young guns
Really had little expectations from Caminiti this season, he was a afterthought draft choice made in desperation, young and green with no pre-season. Ultimately his contribution was far in excess of expectation, but as the season wore on his effectiveness declined and he struggled to demand a role ...

Re: Dan Butler Ankle Setback
Hopefully Dan wont miss too much footy? Henry is probably the obvious choice to replace him, but from training reports is seems RTB wants to use Henry's run and speed in an around the ball. I wonder if Byrnes would be a consideration he seems to get to the right spots when drifting into the F50. Plu...

Re: Howe do we grab an extra FRDP for next year?
Apparently Battle is already attracting interest from other clubs, so expect his asking price to be pushed up. Unless we have a ready made replacement I cant see how we can afford to lose him. Howard is nothing more than a full back, Cordy is not the answer and the other listed options are a way off...
