Re: training report 19/12

Thanks Spiral for taking the time to put your notes down. Many will appreciate the report.

Interesting. It's all full-on now to the season start.

From me - here, here! Great video. It shows you that the vibes are good within the Club.

Re: Lade on presason focus

Good to see the focus so early on skills & goal kicking. We should see a big improvement next season.

I wonder how Geary and some other poor performers go - can they improve, or are set ways too hard to change?

Or will it be, the more you practice, the better you get !

Re: Leo Connolly

Thanks for the excerpts Devilhead. They are interesting insights.

At Pick 64, with great Speed and Elite kicking skills, Leo sounds like a good young pick-up. Much better basic skills than we have been recruiting in the past - warm bodies.

Re: Is David Rath our best appointment ever?

With all of these great new people and especially their fancy titles, does Brett Ratten still have a job, other than attending the game and press conferences ??

Who reports to who and who makes the final decisions, looks a minefield. Stepping on other people's territories may become the main game.

Re: Bruce Requests trade to Dogs

Very disappointing to hear confirmation of this news.

Let's hope that those we are paying the big money to, have a better outcome in mind for the bigger picture. Somehow, I have my doubts.

You need good players to build a side. Josh was one of them, so how will we do much better through this trade?

Re: Doggies offer 3 to 4 year deal for Bruce

Trading is a merry-go-round, which I am not party to, so I won't try to name, names. That's why they pay the big bucks to people who are supposed to be in-the-know. However, our guys are simply not good enough at this game. It's a question of what the Club needs, so go out and get the job done, but ...

Re: Doggies offer 3 to 4 year deal for Bruce

Trade Carlisle for top MIDS - we have a Carlisle replacement in Battle. Keep Bruce - top mids will be able to feed to him and others with some efficiency/effectiveness for a change.

Re: Credit where due

I heard a Mat Finnis quote on SEN radio today, stating how important and meticulous "our process" has been to make certain that the best available coach is chosen. My question to Finnis is this - what happened with your process (which you were a party to), when Richardson was chosen ?? I a...

Re: Doggies offer 3 to 4 year deal for Bruce

What commonsense does this idea have ?? None. Delivery into the forward line has been our main problem for several years now - not so much about poor saints competitors in the forward line. King is just starting out. Membery is very good, but only medium height. Ryder if he comes in, is just a big p...

Re: Coach to be announced on Friday 30th

These days, it's hard to hold back news of appointments such as this. The quicker the announcement, the better for all Saints supporters, the Club and those in the coaching mix. I am getting nervous about the sound of "rumoured" trades. After last year's trade mis-hits, we really need a go...

Re: Buncha $h*t Kickers.

Firstly, blame our Recruiters and secondly, our Development people - all professionally useless. The players are being being "very" highly paid to play football. That primarily means "kicking." if they can't kick, then hire/recruit those that can - that's what they are being paid...

The Club heirachy needs to hear the serious rumblings from long-term Club supporters. We say that players are accountable for their performance. What about our CEO and others at the administrative top, who have presided over long term profit losses, team and coaching under=performance, recruiting un...

Re: Has today's heavy loss hurt Ratten's chances??

I think that the loss is more about the players and their lack of basic skills, than the Coach. With Ratten's background, you would expect that he would know the strategic side, inside out. He seems to have the players right behind him from a personal perspective, but he can't kick the ball for ever...

What a shocker of a game by the Saints. No skills, no plan, no playing tenacity, no brains. Very disappointing for next year.

Whoever the new Coach, without some new skilled players in the team, we are going nowhere.

Re: Team vs Swans. In : Rowe Out : Paton

Yep. Apart from Rowe (good to see), this is a "give-up" by the Club. With nothing to lose, it would have been a good gesture to give a few other lesser lights a run, especially with the low performing Newnes, Lonie, Acres, Sinclair, not busting the gate down for a game. We probably need to...

Sam has said that this will be his last AFl game, so good for him and well done by the Club.

Sounds as though he will be on Buddy - what a going out present on Buddy's 300th !!

May also give Marshall a chop-out, for some time on the forward line - interesting.

Kent - not nearly as good as he was purported to be. Others are much better. Parker - I like the potential upside that he shows - pace, flare etc., but needs to deliver more than he has to date. A good mentor/coach is what he needs to turn the potential into effectiveness. Worth pursuing, as this ty...

Agree with Ace - nothing to lose. Let's trial Marshall as a Forward for some of the game and ruck Rowe for a while.

It is only one game, but it gives the coaches "a look."
