Re: Game Day R1 2024 Cats V Saints

Creditable effort at a venue where we have not won this millennium. We were still a chance to win in the final few minutes. We need to hit back hard against the Filth, who are ripe for the picking. They were kissed on the forehead many times last season, winning from impossible positions. These thin...

The only premiers who has been ZIP-2 after ROUND 1.
So you missed the Cats losing their first three games last season?
They weren’t zip-2 before round 2 has even begun. II mean that’s nearly impossible to do.

I fail to understand why the Brissie player and the Carscum asrewipe who threw connecting punches at each other were only fined. That was pure bulls*** $3000 fine for Hewett for a punch that connected with Neale’s jaw. I thought we were in a brave new era in which the head is protected. You know, l...

Re: Webster appalling

Well we now know the penalty for this type of act.

The club ought to hit the roof if, at any time this season, a player is not dealt with as harshly for similar.

Regardless of reputation or profile, regardless of club, regardless of finals.

I can’t wait and I sense it won’t be long at all.

Re: Webster appalling

Giving him 8- 12 weeks will set a difficult precedent for the AFL. It'll make it harder for them to give soft penalties to high profile players they usually look after. No problem with whatever penalty is deemed appropriate …. so long as they apply the same across the full season. Which history say...

Re: Match Sim 1 vs Essendon

An interesting one was was Mitch Owens. Had just the 7 touches according to the stats online. For much of last year he was playing as one of our main marking targets up forward, and did really well, but with Max, Skunk and Sharman in there yesterday, Mitch was probably being largely bypassed, which...

I really grew to love the way he played in 2021 and 2022...btw 15-9 was the win loss ratio (when DMac was in the side) playing those 2 years ...pretty good. No coincidence I’d suggest. His injury in 2022 coincided with our disastrous second half of the season and Ratten’s termination as coach. In t...

I see DMac is trying out at both Fremantle and Gold Coast for a list spot. Hope he gets a gig, but sad it is not with us.

His last season with us before injury was exceptional.

Re: Who is the most power weilding person at a footy club and why.?

Bassat is running the show, but he is smart enough to give Roscoe control of the football part of the operation.

I’d imagine Bassat has no illusions about his own football knowledge and good management means getting people who have that knowledge and capability in the right places.

I wonder if he will play football and some level next season. Is his body up to it? If he does play and gets a good run at it, would be worth keeping an eye on him.

His last run of games for us in 2022 was outstanding.

Re: Keep Coffield

The dogs obviously don’t rank him as they have only offered a future fourth round. I think that’s an insult for a former top ten draftee who has been injured. If he is now over the injuries he is a first 22 player. Saints should not accept a low ball over - I would rather he go to the PSD Future fo...

It seems the club hasn’t put up much of a fight to keep Coffield. I hear he is going with the club’s blessings. Not sold on this one at all. Fully fit, he’s an improvement on Stocker just for one example. Very disappointing outcome if he goes for next to nothing, particularly if he kicks on big tim...

Re: Dow officially nominates Saints

I don’t mind us getting Dow. He is locked behind some out-and-out guns at Carlton and played some better-than-useful games for them when given the chance this season. Often, good players take 60-odd games to really hit their straps. On the subject of which, I’m p*ssed off with us potentially losing ...

Disappointing to hear that Nick Coffield has decided to play for Footscray as I felt we had yet to see him play after long term injury. However, as the saying goes 'that's football' and so we shouldn't agonise over what he might have been, time to move on. It's likely he could see that it would be ...
