good point

point taken - I still think he's run out of chances to be anything more than an erratic minor goalkicking contributor - he's not nick davis... certainly not phil matera - Ball would double Milne's tally from the same position, plus lay some tackles

poor decision

Poor decision - Gehrig dropped for what Milne should, but doesn't do. He also takes, obviously, a key defender. People say he takes a key defender who can then run off him - but that's a poor argument. Drop Gehrig, the opposition drops a key defender, chooses instead a smaller defender - the pace in...

it could be argue that STK reverted to type in the second half of last year - more emphasis on attack and scoring, less on being able to control the tempo of the game. And we were the second best performing team behind Geelong during that time. I think the argument STK needs to revert to a more atta...

agree

I agree There's no room for S Milne. He's not as quick as he thinks he is, way too inconsistent, and not a big enough engine to take another role in the midfield. But I'd replace with another FP - Luke Ball. Gives us two small forwards, one with great defensive skills, but good shots on goal, and bo...

blake

He's too slow, he kicks dreadully, he's got no ability to think, act or move with any urgency and when under pressure, these things get about 30% per cent worse. Is he a scapegoat? No - not at all. He's just not good enough, that's all. Couldn't agree more. He is not good enough to play in a premier...

alastair lynch model, dude. so... he takes a defender out, he reduces opposition backline speed at selection, he kicks a couple, and sure, he is defensively weak (due to his lack of pace) - where's Milne to do that defensive work? G is being blamed for a lot more than he's responsible for. Good play...

you blokes are rough

He takes the best or second best defender away. He still kicks 2 goals, could easily have been 4-5 if Scarlett wasn't alllowed to cheat. is a true kick for goal. This nonsense about G being past it is rubbish - he has the potential to go on another 3-4 years ala A Lynch - not the most important play...

good post

good post,
I'd reckon Harvey, Hayes, Baker, Fisher, Hudghton, Goddard, Roo would be worthy of the label of elite

accountable

I love it how suddenly everyone is an expert on accountability when the word didn't exist in footy 3 years ago. It seems to me defence has 2 roles: 1/ prevent their opponent marking, and 2/ rebounding from the backline. Some defenders are better at 1/ than 2/ Hudghton, case in point there's 'defensi...

ins and outs

Some players need to be persisted with. I think RL showed last year he sees RC in the top 22, and wants him to make it in. I know he's been poor - but I think if he gets freed up in mid or forward he might surprise a few people - bloke is super talented I'd be looking at Blake, L Fish, and yeah, pos...

good

dude that juxtaposition between our list then and now vs competitive level in the game was outstanding. really well done. I'm not questioning your methodology, but I think there are a few holes in the post: Hayes is no worse a player than he was, IMO Nor is Max when he's fit - pace has never been ke...

one agree, other disagree

I agree Blake is not up to scratch, though the work he does to get the best out of himself is admirable, he is quite simply not a good or smart enough footballer. Leigh Fisher is another I'd be thinking to leave out. He has the skills and, again, the dedication, but there's no room for him down back...

purely from a set-up point of view i believe it's a positive we got fraze back. he gives us the big presence in goal, that we'd have been relying on kozi to give in his absence - kozi can get injured, kozi's better as a guy you can swing into the ruck for a pinch hit, and have him playing looser ins...
