Re: Another Narkle

I'm really bullish on Narkle. I think he's got all the tools to be a really good player; just hasn't quite put it all together at Geelong but his talent was undeniable.

Definite yes from me - even happy to offer a three year deal.

Re: What's with all the punching down in the media?

At St Kilda, we definitely don't have the best players. And with our current coach, we certainly don't have the best game plan. And with our wider football department, we definitely don't have the best culture. I'd be interested to know, with our current playing list, what our game plan should be? ...

Re: What's with all the punching down in the media?

How do you win games of football Good players The right players Got it backwards. Good admin appoint Good coaches to recruit and develop Good players and a successful Game plan. Correct. Also, there's many different ways to win premierships. I've distilled it into three over the past decade: You ca...

Re: What's with all the punching down in the media?

If this forum is a sample size of all members, then clearly we don’t care about winning and it isn’t the number 1 priority. Then filters through and this is what we have, a sub-par professional sports club. Couldn't agree more. St Kilda just doesn't seem very focused on winning premierships and tra...

Re: Michito

Shows glimpses of being a prospect. He'll make it, but what kind of player he develops into is really hard to tell. He's got lots of x-factor. Nice pair of hands, well-balanced. Hope he learns to find the footy. 18 touches in his last game of the year was much more like it and I hope he goes on with...

Re: Delistings

Lienert has stepped in and been competent but I think he was just brought in to take Coffield's spot on the field for this year. He's no world beater and at 28 he isn't getting any better. A little harsh perhaps but I wouldn't give him another contract I forgot Lienert. I'd wait until very late in ...

Re: Cheerio Matt Finnis - St Kilda CEO since 2014.

Gets a tick for Moorabbin, and for handling some of the sensitive issues (especially Rod Owen and Robert Muir) but that's it. The absolute failure to instil a high performance culture is how I'll remember him. Hitched his wagon to two failed coaches; backed in a dreadful recruiting and development t...

Re: Delistings

My list would be: Joyce Kent Geary Hannebery Campbell - I think there's a chance Hannebery will be kept on minimum wage, given he is so popular internally. - Ryder will want to go on and if we can do it for mostly match payments, why not. His 12 or so games in 2023 will be very valuable. - I would s...

Re: Oliver Lowe

Allison was not considered in the top 125 prospects by most clubs; only a handful had him in their top 75.

Only we had him in our top 30. Why we didn't trade the pick is beyond me. Why we gave him a contract extension - with no explanation - is downright bizarre.

Re: Pyss off Lloyd ya flog

Haven't read this thread but imagine it will be full of people defending the club and attacking Lloyd. Well, I just watched Lloyd's assessment and it was spot on. Literally, behind Lockett, Lloyd was the best kick for goal I ever saw. And Lloyd had to work at building a perfect technique in order to...

The best thing to happen in 2022.

Not many positives, but he’s #1.

Will he be a superstar? Unlikely, but he could be an A-grader if he keeps this up.

Re: Are we so used to failure…

I believe we have institutionalised mediocrity and that is reinforced by the current group of players, coaches and administration. I think why so many here are attached to the GT-era was because it was the first time in our history that we matched a desire to win with a belief that we could author a...

Positives? I didn't make the trip. Finally found it within myself to not go after not missing a trip down there for like 30-odd years. Fought with every instinct in my body to not drive down at the last minute. But so very glad I didn't. That was a positive. Will do the next two games at Marvel and ...

Re: Match Thread Saints v Cats Round 21 2022

I used to love the trip to Geelong more than anything in footy but boy am I so happy I stayed home tonight. We look absolutely atrocious. Their ball movement is embarrassing us. That's coaching: that's what you practice on the training field. We don't know how to move the ball because our coach does...

Re: GT on Robert Harvey - Aug 2008

I think people on here remember the 2004-2008 Harvey and it’s clouded their memory. He was extremely good in that time but probably on the fringe of the top ten. And even in his decline, he single-handedly won a final in Adelaide. People forget how magnificent he was in 2003 after repeat knee injuri...

Re: Players which you got wrong

Sam Fisher was absolutely putrid as an over-age forward; miraculously turned into a fantastic defender. Jason Blake cost us several games off his own boot in his first 5-6 years; he grew into being an incredibly reliable and effective player. They were the two I really thought wouldn't make it no ma...

Re: Sunday Footy Show on Ratten

That clip is a very solid analysis of how we have become so incredibly poor. I'm beyond embarrassed now. We'll probably pinch a few wins in the run home but it's now just a mess of a season, highlighted some pathetic efforts. It's not good enough. The administration clearly thinks it is, however. Th...
