Re: New Maximum(less) forward line ideas??
Sharman for mine. If nothing else he will take their best defender which is a plus. Yes he isn’t the best but he will learn a lot and he is the best off a bad bunch. I wouldn’t put battle up forward as he has found his calling in the back half as does Howard What this willl mean is that we will not ...

Re: Max King to miss months
Well that sux. On a plus Sharman and Hayes will be given a perfect opportunity to show their value. Or maybe Ross will have a plan in place by round one. If not well it’s a good season to suck in as it’s meant to be a superdraft

Re: What a brilliant draft - well done Saints!
Credit where it is due the recruiters did well. Ross being coach would have virtually no impact on who we selected. So praise to the selectors As for selecting guns or duds, that will become clear later on but on paper phenomenal draft. We got Matteas ranked 2-10 depending on various mock drafts, a ...

1. Our culture isn’t right and this is public record ** and that has to change. And how do you do that? By bringing back club legends who were renowned for their on field and off field work and who can turn the culture around. Welcome back Lenny and Banger and to a lesser degree BJ 2. We are not a d...

Re: Draft Target
James Van Es is the defender we want. If we can get him with pick 47 (or whatever it will be by then) then we have done well. He will take years to come good but plan for the future plus well worth the risk. Doubt it would take years for Van Es to make it..he’s already 99kg’s @ 18 years old!! I hop...

Re: Tsadis / Phillipou / McKenzie
HS latest Phantom Draft has us taking Busslinger, the 196cm key defender from WA with MacKenzie ending up at West Coast at about Pick 14 or 15. What have we got against midfielders with speed, good decision making and good disposal, especially if they are in our own backyard? It’s all speculation a...

Re: Ethan Phillips
I mentioned in another post that some have the 10th best player in the draft is Jedd busslinger or something like that. He is the best defender in the draft apparently. He will fill a hole in relation to not having enough developing key defenders. As we are not in a premiership window he wouldn’t be...

Read in another mock draft that Jedd busslinger is who we will take if available. From wa so go home factor is there but best back in draft I think. Makes sense as we have that whole to fill as well

Re: What Does It All Mean?
It means very little at present. He didn’t interview for other coaching roles this year so he must see something in our list so that’s a plus and he now has time to build his team ie he can have a day in the next few drafts. He hasn’t coached for a few years but that’s not all bad as he was still in...

Re: Let’s get fair dinkum
For better or worse Ross Lyons is our coach for 4 years (contracted anyway) so time to get behind him. I look forward to being pleasantly surprised by his ability to develop young talent and bringing a new game plan that suits our team. He mentioned in the presser that he thinks our team can run so ...

Re: Welcome Ross Lyon
Not happy with this as mentioned on other threads. Ross Lyons is not the coach we need at present. Quite simply he is not a development coach rather he is a fine tuning specialist. We were good when he took us over last time and we became great due to previous coaches setting the foundation. Then h...

Re: Ross Lyon a huge get
Not the right coach for us. Lyons turns god teams into great teams ie he needs the ground work already done. That’s why he got us and freo to the big dance. But once the teams aged the final appearances disappeared. I am writing off next year so let’s get a coach that hasn’t been let go from another...

Re: Ross Lyon?
Lyons is a great coach at getting a good team with a strong foundation to become a great team that can win a flag (can). We are not is that state so he would be a poor choice. We need to do what the pies did and find a new coach that is ready to step up and bring in fresh ideas that make sense. Unfo...

Re: Ratten sacked
I don’t have a problem with moving ratts on as I never backed him as a tactician ie never seemed to have a plan b. My concern is that we had the perfect opportunity to start the coach hunt back in June and go hard at Alistair Clarkson or someone, anyone else. But now what? When Essendon and Melbourn...

Re: Living In Nowhere Land
I liked being quiet for a change. So we lost Ben Long who has had the odd great game which isn't a huge loss but still he may have turned a corner at the end of last year. And we got a back up defender who was pretty cheap. We didn't piss money up against the wall and over pay for someone this year ...

Re: Hunter Clark
Hunter stays for another year and either pulls his socks up ie fitness, size pre season or plays in the twos for most of next year. If he lifts his game we then have a good player next year and he helps us win a few more games and we play finals and he wants to stay or he gets traded at a decent val...

Re: Should the Saints admit they need to rebuild?
Lost has holes but not rebuild category. Missing a key back and another ruck and another gun mid but other areas are ok. Not sure how the sandy guys are coming along the ruck and kpd but our mids will be great I’m 2023. NWM Owens and windhager are going to be guns Not saying we will play finals but ...

Re: Zaine Cordy? Really?
Some of the comments on here are nothing but a storm in a tea cup. We got a cheap fringe player that will fill a gap a few times when required. He is not going be a superstar but he is not expected to be. Will do a few great things for us but also screw up as well so all in all a very vanilla trade
