Re: Age guide to this years draft.

The club presently shows 32 names on the senior list having finally deleted the dearly departed. Those 32 include the upgrade of Darragh Joyce. It may take years for the five player traded into the club during trade period to be added, but that makes 37. If Abbott goes onto the senior list that mak...

Re: Welcome Ryan Abbott

The AFL website says we have picks 51, 76 , 82. I think you may have an outdated source. 76 went to the Swans. Pick 76. Sydney (received from St Kilda as part of Zak Jones trade; originally received from Greater Western Sydney in 2018 I see 51 and 82. We had a later pick, but with Abbott that is no...

Re: Season 2020 - a repeat of 2008 - 2010??

Maybe a little early to expect King to command a key position in 2020 but I would love to be proved wrong. Agree that we have been weak in the ruck stocks since Gardiner and King and having at least two strong rucks makes a difference in team performance over a season. By around round 5 or so we wil...

Re: Welcome Ryan Abbott

Abbott played 16 games for Geelong’s VFL side in 2019, averaging 28 hit-outs and 15 disposals per game. The pick No. 69 from the 2016 AFL Draft will join his new teammates on Monday. The Saints have three spots remaining on their list ahead of this year's National Draft. LIES LIES LIES Don't believ...

Re: 2018 draft

I think the deep end is not the issue but the reality is that King is only a second year player and has not as yet developed the body, nor had the experience, to demand a key position in the seniors. I want Max to be a star as much as every other forumite on this site, but let's not get too far ahea...

Re: Roberton eyes full pre season

Would love to see Robbo back in full flight, let's hope it happens. Wilkie was one of the few shining lights for us last season, but I don't see how he fits into the backline if Robbo comes back. Agree we seem to be OK now with tall backs but apart from Battle I am yet to be convinced any 'excess' t...

Re: Slater takes tackling.

Thanks Saynta Tackling is an area where I thought throughout last season we started to drop off a bit over the year. At times it seemed as though many of our tackles didn't stick and were too easily brushed aside by opponents. I felt at times our players were not tackling with enough intensity - but...

My, how quickly players age when you fall out of love with them. Acres turned 24 just 9 days ago. Midfielders - unless they are absolutely outstanding and can rely on qualities beyond pace - tend to dry up about 29-30 these days. We'd have to bank on Hill moving into a sweeper-type role in his earl...

Well if Newnes accepts the Saints contract offer and if the Contracts page on this site is correct which says Savage has contract for 2020, then the 3 uncontracted guys left are Brown, Rice and White who would all need to be delisted.

Well it's going to be interested to see what pans out from "The Western Bulldogs have Picks 30 and 41 in the National Draft and the Saints have made it clear they need to attain at least one second round draft pick to execute a range of other deals."

I remember standing on the packed blue-metal terraces at Moorabbin, as a teenager, delighting in his skills, especially his ability to stab pass the footy effortlessly with either foot. He was a great reader of the play who tended to float when he marked as he gripped the ball. Shaking hands with h...

Re: Ratten and leadership

It's interesting isn't it about Ratten - it's pretty hard to judge his effectiveness when it takes us so long to get the ball into the forwards the opposition have all their players there, the ball is bombed long or the only accurate delivery is to someone on the boundary with a low probability of k...

Re: It mostly comes down to our midfield

Let's face it we only have Steven who has any hurt factor as a midfielder. Steele is OK but in my opinion the others are honest plodders. Desperately need some flair, aggression and the ability to do something special to lift the rest of the team - can't see that happening with our draft selections ...

Re: Hannebury Hamstring Awareness & Lethlean

Agree with TTT about the need for leadership support. Lethlean took the risk on Hannebery and let's hope it works; else it's going to get ugly soon in the administration. We don't have leaders who are also our best players. For me Geary may have the player's respect and be the captain but he is not ...

I thought Bassatt's response to the question from Barratt about Warne and the Board was that the club would consider him in a role around the club, but not necessarily the Board.
