Re: 20years ago today

Thanks for the reminder. What a great night ! For once I did not mind the car park crush at Waverley. Got home about 2.30am. Had a few hours sleep then flew to Sydney for a social cricket match. Inspired by the boys' effort the night before, and feeling extremely relaxed , for once I got my left arm...

Re: POLL: Should there be an AFL game on Good Friday?

Good Friday is a public holiday to recognise a significant Christian event and allow for quiet reflection. If it is an anachronism to recognise the event any more, then by all means scrap the holiday , make it a working day ( helpful to the economy) , if necessary make an added contribution to the R...

Re: Riewoldt

I agree with Spert and Saynta . Doc was superb. In the final home and away of 66, with a bung knee, he came on as 19th man to get us over the line, into the top four - and the rest is history. Having said that, I have Roo at CHF in my team of best ever Saints I have seen. HF - Winmar, Riewoldt, Bald...

Re: 2016 SPONSORHIP GROUP

I won't be able to attend either, which is probably a blessing for young Brandon White. However , well done Kosi for getting us young Brandon as our sponsored player . Are we able to get his photo on the header to this website, so we can promote our support for him ?

Re: Best 22 for Round 1

I agree with you, Older Saint- leaving aside positions, which are a raffle. My only change would be Acres in for Hickey. The big excitement of the pre-season matches will be to watch the first - fourth year players. Will Gresham indeed be as good as Lewis Taylor ? What about White and Rice ? Which r...

Re: 2016 SPONSORHIP GROUP

I agree go with option 4 initially , then see how it plays out. If and when you collect all amounts and lock in the $2000 sponsored player for us, and you still have excess , then let us know and we can see if option 1 is possible I suggest you not go to option 2 - it may be a bridge too far, and th...

Re: Player sponsorship

Kosi- please put me down for 5 units - $100. I am happy with whomever is selected, but would hope it was one of the first years, including NOK or Nicholas C. Although they don't get the money, they might see it as a vote of confidence for a young lad. Also nice to start a journey with them.

Re: Best 5 home and away wins of the modern era

I saw every game in Plugger's Brownlow year and would have to say it was thoroughly deserved. He probably won six games off his own boot and dominated games like no other full forward has, before or since. That Is why he remains the only full forward to win the Brownlow. For once, the umpires got so...

Re: Which old ground do you prefer?

I did not see the Saints play a home game at Junction Oval, as I only started supporting in 65 when they moved just up the road from me at Moorabbin. The few subsequent away games against Roys obviously did not give a true impression of the atmosphere. However as a Dandenong VFA fan ( thanks to Alan...

Re: Best 5 home and away wins of the modern era

Greetings , Ladies and Gentlemen. George27 here- in honour of my all-time-favourite player, George Young. I have followed this forum for a number of years, but have resisted until now the temptation to join in. You are all very passionate, but you do tend to get stuck into each other from time to ti...
