Re: Paddy goes *WHACK* D’oh!

If Paddy was bumping, his body weight would have been over or beyond his leg to carry forward his momentum. Instead you can clearly see it angled and braced to arrest his momentum, which brought him to a stop before the impact.

Hunter Clark was in the midfield that quarter, at least. So Ratts is trying something.

Re: Neil Roberts on Robbie Muir

How wonderful and decent a human being is Neil Roberts. His quiet personal leadership has been a constant throughout his life. Makes one wish that you could have observed him go about his work when he served down in the Antarctic in some of the most isolating of conditions. Even now, despite the yea...

Re: McKenzie ???

Watched Coffield up close last week. My impression is that he is still coming to grips with the extra upper body muscle mass and his balance is off when trying to change direction when covering smaller more maneuverable forwards. Slipped a couple of times as a result because he isn't driving down ha...

Re: Jake Carlisle....good player...but...

The free against Carlisle was soft, but it was definitely undisciplined. He was riled up because I think it was Petty from the Dees had just made the injector sign to him. Sitting in the front row in the forward pocket we had a clear view. Didn't Mitchell get in trouble for same act?

Re: Rod Galt RIP

One of my earliest football memories was seeing a clip on World of Sport with the big No.17 tackled from behind on the left forward flank heading towards goal. In my memory he was almost laying horizontally in the air as his boot made contact and he kicked the goal of the day. Was devastated when he...

Agree. Very assured. Given responsibility for kick-ins, too. Liked his game.

Re: Roo's book. What did we think?

Brutally honest. It's a book much more about life and dealing with it, and much less about football. Deserves every happiness and joy that comes his way post playing.

Re: Team v dogs

Eli did some nice things last week. Just not enough of them, so Sinclair had to come in. Paddy as another tall forward for structure vs the Dogs. Acres unfortunate to go out, and Gresh fortunate to stay in. But if Acres is out the midfield with Minch is too short to compete with the Dogs' midfield, ...

Know he was due for a rest, but think we are missing Lonie's pressure in the forward line.

Re: Match thread v dogs

Although we lost and the turmovers and poor kicking for goal was disappointing, what I have comeaway from the game liking was the clear demonstration thatwe do have a Plan B. Last time we played the Dogs it was run and gun. The coaching staff realized we couldn't allowthat again, and instead we set ...

My understanding was that Spud originally went to other clubs to gain experience, and the plan was to come back to us as assistant coach to Barks. But alas, was never to be.

Re: Rod Owen Story

My memories of Rod go back a little further than most. First came across him playing in an interschool (primary) prelim final - Cheltenham vs Bowie. We (Chelt.) were a couple of goals up for most of the final quarter, and the Bowie coach spent the entire time screaming at his players to "kick i...

Despite his slight physique, Eli is prepared to go body on body against much bigger players. It shows that he has played seniors previously. Particularly liked himmixing it with Josh Hunt taking him across the boundary. Way more than just skilful this lad.

Leg injury (shin or calf?) in the first quarter. Spent a fair number of minutes off the ground a couple of times while they tried to get it right.

Re: Rhys Stanley

At the game I thought Rhys showed signs for the first time of knowing where to run, and position himself in general play where he would be able to use his speed, without having to think about it. Hoping that if he can get more games in a row like last year without injury, he will keep improving as h...

Re: new N Z international scholarship holder, 2014

I think Savage is on tip-toe in the photo. If his right foot was flat on the ground the shadow line from his other leg would be continuous at the ground/sole interface, not dis-jointed as it appears.
