Marshall’s deficiencies (which some refuse to acknowledge) were thoroughly exposed against a top quality ruckman in Gawn.

I agree. We aren't the only team doing it, but I don't understand why we let teams always do a short kick to a pocket then they work it up the ground. OK we have forced them wide but why not put pressure on them right from the start. A long kick out (not to the opposing ruckman) if not marked force...

Makes no sense having great penetrating kicks of the footy such as NWM Bonner and Sinclair take kick outs and kick it 15 meters.

Any player on the ground could take these kicks and surely can't be part of the structure going forward.

Marshall needs to give it off after a mark or free kick he along with Howard and Hammer should rarely kick.
