Re: A couple of the whipping boys were ok
I thought Dunstan and Savage were amongst our better players last night. A couple of the whipping boys had a crack. Relevance? Are we now cool with average players being Ok? Is that what we want now? Sad times. Relevance is a couple of players who have been dropped recently and were under pressure ...

If there is one aspect of his game that is excellent it is marking. McCartin, or McClunk as some call him, is a very solid, and often one grab, mark.

Not sure why this warrants its own thread to be honest.
Could have been posted in any of about 15 the threads that already exist.

???? Membrey - tick Bruce - tick Savage - tick Steele - will be massive tick The problem? Clearly Hamil as forward coach, fitness coach, possibly richo himself, time to move on rooey and monty - We HAVE the talent time to question how we develop it before its too late. I got a bad feeling Acres Gre...

Re: More Pleasure or More Pain?
It depends. If you base your self worth on the achievements of 22 strangers each week, then yeah, life would suck. But if you just follow the footy as a form of entertainment and distraction from real life for a couple vof hours each week, like any sane human being should do, then you'd find that fo...

Re: Saints drop 4 players.
In case some think you're suggesting that the 10 guys are "list cloggers", you're not- these guys are part of our best 22 at the moment, are doing a job well- when we win - but they don't possess the skills or ability to improve those skills, and/or the right attitude or approach to go th...

Re: Dear paddy bashers
Fair point made by OP It is difficult not to be impatient with Paddy though. Not his fault, but he suffers from the inevitable comparison with Petracca who the majority of the forumites, not to mention media and other club list managers, thought we would take. Good luck to the kid, I will try and c...

Re: Dear paddy bashers
The main point that list illustrates is that people get too hung up about the significance of draft picks. All you get with an early draft pick is raw talent. If you get more early draft picks over a period of time, you get more raw talent. But the talent needs to develop and meld with your existin...

Re: Saints drop 4 players.
And that's not a knock on Mav necessarily. It is what it is. As teams improve, not everyone on the list is capable of taking the next step. If a team is to improve, everyone has to get better or be replaced by someone who is already better. If that doesn't occur, then guess what? You don't improve! ...

Re: Saints drop 4 players.
Last year he averaged 16.4 Disposals and 3.9 Marks per game. This season he averages 17.1 Disposals and 4.5 Marks. Last season he averaged 2.0 Shots at Goal and 3.8 Tackles per week. This season he averages 2.1 Shots at Goal 3.2 Tackles. So he's up in everything except he has had 0.6 Tackles less pe...

Was he 'great' last year comparative to the rest of our team? Or 'great' in the context of the entire competition?

Re: Dear paddy bashers
Let's face facts. Paddy is way behind where we expected him to be. As a result, regardless of what Roo wants, the Roo issue is very much live in large part due to Paddy A fact is it? Disagree. Concussion aside, McCartin is pretty much exactly where I thought he'd be. He's developing really well.

the elephant in the room...Maverick Weller. Remember him? He's in the leadership group. Is he still carrying that ankle soreness ? He got 17 disposals for Zebs, and 8 tackles, whereas Blake Acres got 26 and 8 tackles, but had a hard tag all day. Go figure Well to be fair, Wellard was put into the l...

Re: The exact moment we lost last night's game...
It's a little disturbing to me that ppl genuinely think we are completely incapable of turning stuff around and capable of failure before even beginning. To me it's a cop out. I guess we'll just have to leave it there Things don't turn around, if you keep doing the same things over and over again. ...

There may be problems - obviously heaps we can improve - but this particular loss in this particular game I put squarely down to maddie's match. Did anyone see the footage of roo they played back on footy class last night? He's not all he used to be but I've never seen him that far off competetive....

Re: The exact moment we lost last night's game...
FWIW, If we think it only bad goal kicking that is the difference, were in trouble. It's bad kicking AND bad umpiring, right? Umpiring is always bad. Ask any club, and they'll tell you the same. Except for the Dogs of course. The issue is two-fold: Firstly, this whole 'pressure' thing. Why do we ha...
