Topic: How did Ross Lyon come to lose his way? (Discussion starter)

When paul roos took over from Rocket Eade, he looked at the playing list and what they were proficient at and he implemented a style that suited them and allowed them to win games... By contrast... RL took over a team and implemented a style regardless of the proficiencies and deficiencies of the pl...

Its not that we're bad...I can, and have dealt with that before...its that we're spiritless...RL has managed to shake all of the MOJO out of this team within 18 months....I've never been bored by StKilda, not even when we were bad ....we are 4/5, mid-table...but honestly I've felt more passion for a...

I'd like to the thank Ross Lyon

and the StKilda football club for helping me finally overcome my addiction to AFL. Now we play the least inspiring brand of football and the spirit in the team seems well and truly at its lowest ebb, now we have completely ruled out any chance of being a competitive football team....I can move on kn...

Shame...would have done Dal the world of good to remember what calibre of player he is. When his confidence is up he's one of the best in the league and thoroughly deserves the Big V based on last 2-3 seasons, if not strictly on his 2008 form.

Opposition teams must love seeing Goddard line up in the back: BJ is a poor defender, often beaten by smaller players one on one....would love to see him on the wing and pushing to the 50m line to kick the goals, ditto Gram on the other wing, and Raph (if he has to be there)in a fwd pocket like O'Lo...

Very gutsy win 19 vs 22 is a huge deficit these days....especially losing Nick in the 2nd Q. Hanging on in the last Q was a great effort, and Milne's effort very welcome. Having said that the hard ball get stats and clearances suggest we got out of jail bigtime....Ball, Hayes, Montagna, Baker, Hayes...

Tredrea to Lade

Did everyone else watching see that pass coming for 15seconds before it happened ?.... I was screaming at the tv....Tredrea even did a little double take when he saw the 6 ft 6" giant standing by himself for so long - as if he thought it must some sort of cunning trap laid by our defenders to l...

Prety much right I'd say. Shame about Gilbert.

Possibility that Gehrig won't come n and Roo and Charlie G. will play the key fwds, bring in Baker and Allen or Baker and Birss for the extra midfielder.

How did King play?

Missed the game, but heard last few minutes and believe King was injured.
Can someone tell me how he was playing until then I reckon he was one of our best vs the cats.
Also how did Goose and Gilbert go and any injury updates

Thanx

Depth is Ok. Look at this week: Back up mids in Birss, Fiora, Raph Clarke, Geary Back up Rucks of Rix and McEvoy Back up defence Gwilt, Ferguson Back up forwards G-train All with experience and at least competence to fit in the firsts. Still Gardiner, Baker and Schneider to add to first team Attard,...

So what if Fraser gets the best full back when they become the BOG for their team?

C.Gardiner has a chance and will play a Ryan O'Keefe role, bring in Armo or Birss....do not drop Gilbert....keep investing in him , he'll turn it round.

Exactly. And thats about where we deserve to be. We are still being rated on the 2005 names. But we have gone backwards since then in most areas (Ball, Dal Santo, Harvey, Max, Gehrig, Maguire...all worse then their 2005 form)....S.Fisher, Goddard, Monty have improved admittedly, and we now have a ru...

We are a middle of the road team...

We have been very overrated, talked up as top 4 and some having us to top the ladder...we are nowhere near. We are somewhere between 6-12 on the ladder. I actually thought we were OK yesterday, we lost by 7 goals but thought we played better then our 7 goal win against Carlton. But the difference wa...

Raph is played out of position...and he is woeful back there because he is just not a backman. I think the idea was that he would learn to be accountable by being played in defence, bhut it seems to have ruined his composure, because every mistake he makes is a fatal one and he has become fumbly and...

BJ was really good. I liked the body strength in a contested mark he took in the second quarter....might have pumped some iron when recovering and got some needed upper body strength.

Fraser Gehrig is he worth it?

Fraser is a favourite of mine but with the way the game is going I'm really questioning the cost/ benefit ratio. When Fraser is dominating he is obviously a great asset, he occasionally wins a game of his own boot it is true but I think there are substantial negatives that outweigh the positives. 1....
