Re: Finn Callaghan

We tried when he came out of contact a couple of years ago. He chose to stay at GWS.

Looks like a long shot to me

Re: Jack McCrae

I'd rather our approach would have been focused on younger players.

However, as long as we're not coughing up decent draft picks.....

Our clearance work is the worst in the league. At least he'll help with that

Re: Zach Merret....?????????

This is all just BS

Merrett is captain

He's a short way through a long deal

He had the chance to leave a couple of years ago when Essendon were awful. He stuck around

He's not going anywhere

Re: Port vs Hawthorn

Mitchell was an egotistical smart arse who looked down his nose at everyone when he was a player. Even his own team mates thought he was a stuck up, superior prick. I have that on good authority by the way. Too late to start reinventing yourself as something entirely different. Essendon are my most ...

Re: Ken Hinkley is the boss

Sicily misses the chance to win the game and then loses his s*** in a spat with Hinkley.

Hinkley shouldn't have done what he did but seeing Sicily lose it was worth it from my perspective

Re: Port vs Hawthorn

Sicily hitting the post. Hysterical. Made my night. Hawks can now spend their whole summer practising their irritating, juvenile and theatrical goal celebrations.

Now we'll have a break from the media slobbering over them in fawning adoration

We saw how Seb Ross faded in the past two years. Would be be just swapping Seb Ross one for Seb Ross two?

Re: Trust in your players

Our club's history of short term fixes has been disastrous since some of the appalling decisions made during the Stan Alves and Ken Sheldon periods. If you can confidently predict you'll get 100 games out of a player (e.g Brad Hill, Mason Wood), then fair enough, but trading good draft picks for guy...

Hawthorn are riding a wave at the moment on the back of an easy draw and a stable line up. It will come to an end at some point.

Re: Keeler, McLennon, Heath, Stocker, Byrnes and Webster Re-sign

I thought Collard did some impressive things at times. That Sandy team is awful and the ball movement atrocious. To play as a small forward would be a nightmare. He's got elite speed and showed that with some impressive chase down tackles. He has excellent goal sense, a huge leap and can comfortably...

Re: Keeler, McLennon, Heath, Stocker, Byrnes and Webster Re-sign

Heath is an interesting one. Now that Campbell is gone, hopefully big Moose and accelerate his progress. He seems to have stagnated a bit in 2024. Needs to get a lot fitter and stronger. If not, I can't see him competing at AFL. Lots of work for the fitness and development coaches.

Re: Keeler, McLennon, Heath, Stocker, Byrnes and Webster Re-sign

Especially pleased for McLennan and Byrnes. Byrnes is such a hard runner and after having a dip in form mid season, came back and played solid football. McLennan I've liked from the first time I saw him play. Great hands for his height, and as brave as they come. Needs to work on his tank, so this p...

This is excellent news. A lot of clubs would have been sniffing around Sharman, and what a stamp of approval for our club in getting Collard to extend his contract.

Well.....he's gone. It's all over. His name gets wiped off the club website and we move on. We have Cordy, Caminiti, and Schoenmaker in the frame for his replacement. Yes, we lose a bit, and those guys are not as good as Battle in the same role, but this list build is moving forward and there's no p...

In any case, he is a very wealthy man by most people's standards. He's never been shy expressing his opinions which is why he's got so many people offside over the years. He's certainly has the "I know what's best" mentality and is sure he's right on football matters He made mistakes in hi...

Re: Battle

Battle has been very good for us in the past three seasons. Very hard to replace. No doubt we'll get screwed over with the change in the rules around compensation. Funny how the rules change in the very years we are in line to benefit. It's almost as if the AFL is watching our club and waiting for o...
