Sounds like Thommo is trying to get back some of that money he had to pay back to Butterss. I suppose he's got 8 kids to put through private schools, so he'll need every bit of it. Just another stinking episode in the St Kilda annus horribilus. Didn't Alves try to sue the club after he got sacked? G...

Right on, Animal Enclosure. I got sick to death of hearing Thompson whining on about our priority picks (two in 20 years of the draft), and about the fact that they had to develop their list with first round picks between numbers 7 and 12. Boo bloody hoo. The fact is that they got the following play...

Ben Walton First round pick. No 15 overall John Beveridge had pencilled in Nick Stevens, but Alves had seen a tape of Walton where he kicked six goals in a quarter in South Australia and said "That's our man". Stevens eventually went to Port at pick 25! Whoops. Coaches should stick to coac...

Just a little bit of over-confidence early in the year, I would suspect. If he's a smart kid, he'll now realise the amount of work that's ahead of him. He'll need a huge pre-season, as will many others, but he did show something in the pre-season practise matches by all reports. Let's hope he become...

Add four or five teenagers to that list and the average age drops even further. If Harvey, Hudghton, and Hamill retire at the end of next season, and Rix gets the chop, and you add another five teenagers, then in 2009 the average age will not go up from 23, with our core group still in their prime (...

Any room for Van Rheenen on the senior list, or should we wait a bit longer and put him on the list if and when we need him to play seniors? I really hope this guy makes the grade. He's a huge guy - a genuine monster in the size of Darren Jolly and Steven King. If I was in the saints coaching panel,...

My understanding of testing procedures is that the sample is tested for a particular drug. So, when the drug agency is testing for performance enhancing drugs such as steroids, the testing will not pick up anything like cocaine or amphetamines. The test has to be specifically geared toward picking u...

Andrew Demetriou was interviewed about the disparity between last week's tribunal decision verses this week's tribunal decision.

He just smiled and said "Beautiful one day, perfect the next."

Tribunal ZERO CREDIBILITY Interesting to hear that Tony Shaw was forced to apologise to the AFL after the Baker case when he said the the AFL influenced tribunal decisions. This was after big chief Dementia demanded an apology, of course, as what Demetia wants, Dementia gets. I would strongly sugges...

Ross Lyon was apparently keen to offload up to 10 players by his assessment earlier in the season, but this upcoming draft is of a very poor quality (likened to the same draft we picked up McQualter in). This will mean that the Saints will probably turnover only 5 players, six at a push. That means ...

Rod Butterss would be fully aware of how the AFL operates under the current regime. That is, if you're not one of their faves and you cross them, they will see to it that you get a pretty difficult time from them in future. If you are one of their faves, they will see to it that any issues are quiet...

Raph was very composed in his first season, looking like a guy who had played 100 games. He has since had some injuries. He had no pre-season coming into 2007. At last he is close to the required fitness for AFL. He reads the play beatifully, and in particular, reads the flight of the ball better th...

I saw him pull up - the very moment it happened. It's defininitely not just tightness. Quad injuries are normally at least 4 weeks on the sidelines, so the news for Harvey and Hudghton is not too good for the rest of '07.

Lools like a minimum of 3 changes next week.

Gilbert is a bit narrow across the shoulders and may not develop the size to be a key backman. Jarryd Allen will hopefully be our next full back. Ferguson is the unluckiest in that group. When he has played senior football he has been impressive, hardly putting a foot wrong, but was the first to be dropped under the old regime. He's been incredibly unlucky with the timing of his injuries. If he does play from this point on, I think he will be...
