No chance of him being promoted this week. He was heaps better last week. I don't think he's entirely out of the picture, though.

Re: Sandy at Wonthaggi
Clark definitely deserves a call up to the seniors, most likely for Hastie. I'm not sure about Dow. In both the games I've seen Dow play, he has struggled with the pace in the early stages and has only begun to deliver much after half time. At AFL level the players tend to be a little fitter, so the...

Re: Sandy at Wonthaggi
Geez stiff 50m penalty on Collard Nope. It was 100% there. Collard has finished off a shocking individual game by gifting the Hawks a win. He should be dropped from the Zebras for their next game. You are tough As I watched it I said to myself “if you spin the Hawks player around one more time it’l...

Re: Sandy at Wonthaggi
I am sure that he has done more than that. As I said earlier, there are three guys playing for us with headbands who all look very similar, so the stats guys might have misattributed some of his acts to others. Alternatively, perhaps I have done so. Don't try to watch it because we are shocking. Our...

Re: Sandy at Wonthaggi
The concept that either or both of Dow and Jones would improve our midfield isn't getting much support from what we've seen so far. Philippou is doing enough perhaps to get a recall to the AFL team. I think O'Connell looks very promising. That's about it so far.

Re: Sandy at Wonthaggi
I was vaguely looking forward to this game, but it's a waste of time.
I feel sorry for BM who is presumably there.

Re: Sandy at Wonthaggi
Caminiti just had a horrible attempt at a left-foot snap. And Hunter Clarke just got run down in defence which resulted in a goal to the opposition. Zac Jones just stuffed up a handball and a kick straight to the opposition. Patty Dow just missed misjudged a kick to a forward. Halfway through the f...

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Hawks
BTW, Battle up forward wasn't good. It was a desperate move. Battle is a really good player, but is at his best down back. As is Sinclair. Do any of you remember Alan Richardson's tendency to move Carlisle forward when things got desperate? That's the sort of situation we were in this afternoon. Ros...

Coaches did well today Swung battle forward , Wood forward, Payton into middle all good moves We have the weakest , dumbest players in the comp THE worst midfield- nit by a little but a long way 12 years of recruiting HBF/HFF crap like Billing’s and co has set us back 10 years Sorry, mate. Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Hawks
Standard Ross Lyon football. It takes until the last quarter to decide to try to win the game rather than to try to purely negate the opposition. Bassett needs to make a hard call. Give him till the end of the season to change his anti-football approach and if he won't or can't then fire him tomorr...

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Hawks
I think the best description of how we are going was made by our current President some time back: "it's not a linear progression."
This is incredibly sad from my POV. I'm old and I want to see us get better.

Can someone remind me what was wrong with Ratten’s style of coaching?
It must have been worse that what we’re seeing today but I can’t remember why.

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Hawks
One thing I've noticed today is that it appears that you are now allowed to push your opponent in the back when they are attempting to mark the ball. The Hawks benefited from this "new rule" several times and we also did once or twice.
