Re: Bye bye Maynard

The vast majority trying to defend what Maynard did, are the same people who have resisted changes to the rules. They fight to keep things the same as the 'good old days'. For the last 30 years or more, there's been a chorus of ex players calling the players of today soft. They can't stand the fact...

Re: Bye bye Maynard

I only saw the incident for the first time yesterday, the behind the goal view. The right decision has been made, Michael Christian made the right call, then we get the inevitable AFL Executive Clown Show! Maynard didn't deliberately line him up, he was trying to smother the kick. Maynard was moving...

BTW Goddard was a number 1 pick and future 300 gamer dual AA, B&F and Captain Not sure Phillipou has anywhere near the potential of BJ He's going be better than BJ. That remains to be seen. Hope you’re right, but supporters telling each other how good certain players are going to be without any...

Interesting article. We're going to need to be creative to improve our draft hand and List.

Re: AFL 2023: Nailing trades can turn St Kilda into a contender

Different argument I didn't say McCartin couldn't play I said he clearly wasn't the best player in his draft year. How do you rate a player Number 1 when he doesn't even get out on the park consistently to perform in the U18's. Red flags everywhere. McCartin was also injured during the draft combin...

Re: Do we look at Chol and Hollands from GC

I like Chol, has enormous potential, however I reckon Hardwick may want to keep him. chol wonts out of GC he was under Hardwick at Richmond and hardly played reason why he went to GC I here he is desperate to get out so would get him cheap if that's the case why not. Right, didn't know he wanted ou...

Re: AFL 2023: Nailing trades can turn St Kilda into a contender

Think it's a simple point really. You're judging the recruiting in hindsight. No one is saying our recruiters have been amazing but it was a reasonable call to take Billings ahead of Bont. Think alright. Remind me who was in charge of recruiting in 2013 and 2014 Same incompetent person who decided ...

Re: Post-match analysis

Happy with an elimination final loss? I was happier with 2020 Seriously, that was a 17 game season of 1 hour games. A glorified Lightning Premiership. Mickey Mouse compared to a real season. Ryder was in awesome form and Dan Hannebery actually strung together a few games for us at the end of the se...

B.M wrote: Sun 10 Sep 2023 12:32pm Why will he be better for having his worse game?
Because he's a driven gun and his game yesterday will burn in his guts. Drive him harder at training, in the gym etc and next time he gets an opportunity, watch him go.

Re: Why wait

No one even knows the issue with Tim? After the fact by supporters - but shouldn’t be by AFL coaches Phillipou has been gifted games Others have been overlooked - Billings, Byrnes, Bytel are all better footballer - at this point of their careers I thought the selection since R12 has been mystifying...

Re: Why wait

Don’t disagree but it’s all after the fact. We also looked very flat and slow. Not sure how much that had to do with the TM situation. yeah the Members situation wouldn't have helped but did anyone genuinely think we weren't making up the numbers except the most rusted on supporter? Most pundits an...

Re: Post-match analysis

We were beaten with quick movement from stoppages and precise field kicking by GWS. Once they got a break of a couple of metres they were off. Our slow mids couldn't run them down. That gave them time and space to deliver to their forwards. A lot of little things went their way where seeming innocu...

1978 season Our miracle season - as far as a 14-year-old was concerned. But I think they clobbered us by such a margin, that it seemed incomprehensible. We were, at Round 7, 5-1-1, including kicking 32 goals 200 and something against Melbourne. South had started the season at 1-3, then won a couple...

Re: Who will win and why Gws vs SAINTS

Best defense in the league wins most finals. And that's us. We have a very solid side which is even. We just don't have any passengers. It will be close, but I expect us to win. Yeah but our #1 defence is offset a bit by our #15 offence 😅 If King, Membrey, Butler etc can fire it’ll make it very har...

Re: Top 5 Finals Games Memories......

I went to the Adelaide 2005 Final, also was at the 1992 v Collingwood and 1997, 2009 Prelims. 2005 in Adelaide is special, it was a gigantic effort. Harvey was awesome, we lost Hamill and Fisher to injuries. Light on for height down back, Thommo sent the G Train to the backline in the final quarter....
