Re: Paddy Dow to play for Sandy

Do posters on this site believe Dow is best 22?

I don't rate Dow highly, however assume he gets a run when fit due to the Crouch injury and our lack of midfield quality.

If we can recruit/ draft some midfield talent I think he becomes depth.

Re: Zak Jones

Ahh Herald Sun - that’d be accurate! Jones never played in the midfield He was never going to get a look in, they had A Graders in there Kennedy, Parker, McVeigh, Jack, Hannebery They played in a GF in 2016 Zak was in the team Who said he played mid at Sydney? HS is crap, but better than making up ...

Re: Drafting 25

Add the terrible record of John Beveridge's recruiting. He is described as a "guru", based mainly on the fact that he'd survived for 30 years. Check his record. It's shocking, overall. It was our trading in of players, such as Gehrig, Hamill, Penny, Guerra, Black, Powell, Lawrence, Voss, ...

Add the terrible record of John Beveridge's recruiting. He is described as a "guru", based mainly on the fact that he'd survived for 30 years. Not enough credit was given to Toce for the succesful drafting. Gags was good as well, but only from a SA perspective. Gags did a good job in iden...

Re: Drafting 25

I agree with BM's point, drafting is key. It is easy to say Geelong got a huge kiss on the d!ck with their father son selections of Hawkins and Ablett, but we got priority selections in 200 (#2 and #5 in the 2001 super draft) so I don't believe we have anything to bitch about. Geelong's drafting was...

Re: Zak Jones

Do you reckon the first three years at 4 games 11 games 16 games Has a bit to do with those averages Seriously Yep, it moves his average from 12.46 games per season to about 14. The situation as I see it, is Jones wasn't good enough to play in the Sydney midfield, we thought he could become a midfi...

What? Re: Zak Jones

I think you might be dismissing Jones career at Sydney As a HB he played consistently well and rarely missed I think you might what to check his record at Sydney. Averaged 13 games a season and almost identical stats to his time at St Kilda. Great endeavor, decent pace, has a real crack but a c gra...

Re: Zak Jones

Sub is the only place for Jones IMO. He can come on and have an impact as he has some pace and ball winning ability. Jones is a c grade mid who has a couple of good traits being aggression and a bit of pace. He can be very good on his day, but he is not consistently a quality AFL standard midfielder...

Arie doesn’t have the tank or speed for a wing. He’s playing good footy but plays the role of Battle or Wilkie, two of our better and more durable players. Unless he replaces Sharman, in that forward/ back hybrid (nothing) role I don’t see it. I would love to see him get a run and bang a couple of ...

Howard has played with some success as a key forward at PA.

If we are happy with Corey perhaps Howard plays forward with King, that gives us two pretty quick mobile 200cm types to match up on up forward.

The coaches of the 17 oppo teams endorse this thread wholeheartedly. After they stopped laughing. Imagine getting Nas, Windy, Owens in exchange. Then taking the cash and grabbing Tim English. Is it still laughable. English and Rowan swapping ruck/forward. Midfield depth sorted. All from trading one...

Very odd post.

The last game LF umpired involving us was V Collingwood (wasn’t it?) where we won the free kick count 30/16 (from memory) or by a significant margin.

What has happened to his set shot goal kicking.

Was a very reliable set shot early last year, he now has the sainter yips.

How do we manage to train the accuracy out of our kids? 😂

Agree he’s a couple of years away, but I still believe he’ll be a very good player. May end up on a wing?

Rookie selection option at absolute best IMO. Frankie Pickett will be a possible father daughter selection. Unfortunately I don’t rate Boston Everett as a high end talent either. Still, things can turn in a short period of time at that age so fingers crossed. I’m waiting and hoping I’m still around ...
