Best position for Ben King at St. Kilda
If, as expected we can get Ben King to the club at some stage, what would be his best position to suit us? I personally think he would make a great key defender, that way he wouldn't be directly competing with his brother, at the same time stiffening up an area of the ground that needs more height. ...

Re: Ross to be traded I’m calling it!!
Guys like Seb are always going to polarise opinion but the reality is he has more shortcomings than strengths. More often than not, the pill often ends up in opposition hands when he gets it, handballing can be sloppy & kicking skills below par. Using him as a tagger not ideal, as for us to beco...

Re: Do not trade Lonie & billings
With the likelihood of Higgins getting to us, Lonie would be foolish not to leave for greater opportunity. Keep hearing the doggies are keen, so he would reunite with his mate Josh Bruce. I wouldn't trade Billings, forget the idea of turning him into a midfielder, play him as a high half forward whe...

Re: Do not trade Lonie & billings
I really, really like Jack as a player but, much like if Webster and Dunstan would be part of sweetening the Crouch deal then - you have to give to get. It depends on what we'd get for Jack as to whether I'd be happy to let him go. Early 2nd rounder? Nope? Late 1st rounder? Probably not. Somewhere ...

Re: Seb Ross
Was a handy player in an ordinary team Seb, gets a fair bit of the footy but not damaging enough & decision making questionable. If we're going to challenge, we need to have some quality in the midfield, not rely on mids that lack skill to play a negating role. You don't see Geelong or Richmond ...

Re: Twin Towers? King and Brown?
Riewoldt and Lynch are talls who each have a pocket .... Could we do that with Ben Brown and Max King? I know Brown looks awkward with his Dennis Lillie run up and bouncing hair, but think about it for a moment. Twin towers, plus Butler, Lonie and co. King got smacked pillar to post this year, and ...

Re: Ben King
I’m officially putting Ben King back on the agenda. Would explain the lack of urgency around keeping Carlisle. Ambassador money gone, must be paid by GC salary cap now and with the chance wages cut by 30%. I think we can get him for two firsts now. And I bet the club thinks so too. My gut feeling t...

Re: This is how the Crouch deal will go down.......
Adelaide will match our offer forcing a trade. Adelaide trade Crouch and pick 20 and pick 50 to St Kilda St Kilda trade pick 15 and pick 58 and Dunstan to Adelaide Source - My friends wife works for one of Adelaide's masseurs. The deal is heavily in our favour still so in effect we still get Crouch...

I'm sure we'd all love McCartin back at St. Kilda but after 8 concussions is it worth the risk?
Seriously, we'd have our collective hearts in our mouths for every contest he'd be involved in...sadly I think Paddy shouldn't play again.

Re: Bytel locked away
Great news, the kid has got some really good traits.
Lightening hands kicks well either foot, excited to see his progress next year after missing a lot of footy for a couple of seasons.
He's a good size too, 189cm and will get stronger!

Re: Buckenara on saints list
Not a bad summation really, agree we have a few holes to fill. As much as I think Carlisle should be kept, I doubt he's the answer to negating the best power forwards in the game, so we need a key defender. Obviously also need ruck back up, preferably someone that can also play forward, prefer someo...

Re: Jack Higgins
In his draft year, Jack was rated by champion data #1 and Richmond was very fortunate to get him @ pick 17. He is a very clever small forward but also a more than capable mid...exciting prospect he and Gresham alternating mid and forward as we tend to lose a bit of creativity when Gresh is out of ou...

Re: What players are we likely to get in the trade
A player like Narkle would be handy, right age, and has an upside..can play forward/ mid. Need a strong-bodied tall defender, even if Carlisle stays, someone that can compete one on one with the big power forwards..a Mihocek, Ratagalea, Jack Payne. A ruck forward as well, again Ratagalea would be ha...

Re: De Goey
A guy like De Goey is going to polarise opinion but he would make a HUGE difference to us, giving us more of a dynamic look both mid and forward 50.
I've seen a lot of him live & he can turn a game on its head...not too many of those around!

Re: Trade Period Part 2- go do your thing Gubby
Given we have a poor draft hand, we need to look at dispensable players with trade currency.
In my view they are Webster, Savage, Kent, Hind, Lonie, Carlisle, Dunstan, Phillips...of course, not all will be traded but it's a starting point.

Re: New look team in 24 month period
Let's not get ahead of ourselves, yes we have made great strides over the last 12 months BUT we still have a little way to go getting to the Richmond, Geelong, Brisbane & to a lesser extent, West coast stage. On the plus side, we have some really talented youth that still has an upside...excitin...

Re: What players are we likely to get in the trade
I'd like us to pick up a player with a bit of X factor that can play forward/ mid role...either Jack Higgins or young Narkle from Geelong would be a good fit, also in the age sweet spot. A forward/ ruck is also needed, prefer someone a bit younger than McKernan but they don't grow on trees, someone ...

As much as I'd love to get Ben King now, I reckon he's a young guy that would honor his contract...patience will no doubt be rewarded, as it's inevitable the twins will be re-united at some point.

Re: key position player
The need is for a strong bodied tall defender that can compete physically one on one with the key forwards like Lynch and Hawkins...needs to fit the right age demographic so McStay or Payne from Brisbane would be a good fit!

Re: Saints after McKernan?
McKernan is a handy back up as he can continue the ruck/ forward set up we currently have with the Ryder/ Marshall combo...costs us little and is a delisted free agent!!
Ryder won't play every game next year so a good strategy i would've thought.
