Re: Who will win and why Gws vs SAINTS
The little I heard in media (a stats analyst) talking on SEN breakfast, said that 65% of the game is won in ‘transition ’ phase of game play. (Whatever that is, I know it is not stoppages) And that GWS has been the best ‘in transition ’ team for the last six weeks of the season. So I guess we have ...

Re: Dougle on the market article
I reckon Cordy is more to Ross's liking because he's more willing to play the percentages than Doug. Zaine isn't particularly attacking, which doesn't really faze Ross, given his loyalty to Zac Dawson and the like. My hope is that Van Es can develop into something substantial. Intercepting key backs...

Re: Hayes v sharman
Love Coops but Hayes is more of a finals prospect at this stage of their careers. Bigger body and can give Roma a chop out rather than throwing poor old Mitch Owens into the ruck. Jack got better as the game went on. Will be better for the run.

Re: Anyone think we possibly could..?
Here's my conspiracy theory / 4D chess moment of the week. We knew in round 6 we had a winner of a gameplan. We had significant media attention and other clubs were trying to dissect our game. We changed it up to throw them off the scent, sold it as "trying new things" lost a few winnable...

Re: Ross Lyon Haters???
The objections to RL have never been that he's a lousy coach they're that he's a slimy toerag who makes our club motto a sad joke. I understand the sentiment, but it's a weak argument in a performance based industry. I couldn't care less if our club motto was, "We all eat beans for breakfast.&...

Re: Ross Lyon Haters???
Good post lennylegs Some can’t bring themselves to direct credit to where it’s due Even when it’s obvious they just don’t want to say they were wrong 😊 Yeah I reckon you're right. I mean, you'd concede at least small portion of credit, wouldn't you? Even if you did hate Ross's guts, it's pretty obv...

Re: Ross Lyon Haters???
The relative success we've had this year has nothing to do with recruiting. We were all but silent during last trade/draft period. Credit has to be given to the new coaches. We're a much tougher team to play against this year, toughest we've been in over a decade. Which, not surprisingly, coincides...

Re: Ross Lyon Haters???
We don't... but we spend too much time on worshipping mere mortals who have donned the title of coach. The behind the scenes recruiters deserve most of the plaudits or condemnation. They do most of the heavy lifting or sinking. The relative success we've had this year has nothing to do with recruit...

Re: Our list is better than we think it is
Been saying it all year. Our list is a lot better than what most on here and in the media have been giving us credit for. Not complete, but very capable. I'm glad some of you are beginning to see it.

Re: Finals Week 1 scenarios
Playing Sydney in Sydney is definitely on the cards. It probably depends on if Sydney beat Melbourne and what we do. Sydney will be playing for a home final. Melbourne can afford to rest a bunch of players. Sydney have done well. Bad outcome for us if we don’t get a home final. Happy to play Sydney...

Re: Ross Lyon Haters???
That was a ten goal plus win if we kicked straight. 💯 We were in control most of the time, and any other team would put the oppo out of their misery. Our guys played like 'we can't believe we're in front' and played very defensively to protect the lead, instead of inflicting more pain and making a ...

Re: So are we better than last year ?
Have the ones that reckon the change of coach was a bad decision had a change of heart ? Not yet. If there's some surprise outcomes in September and we play one of the top 4 and beat them, I'll let you know. Sydney and Geelong were Grand Finalists. Richmond and Fremantle made finals last year. Did ...

More than capable list. Glad they're seeing meaningful rewards. Plenty to work on.
Shout out to all you bed-wetters. Hope you're nice and quiet as usual after a win.
We're building. Go Sainters.

Re: For team balance, it’s Byrnes vs Ross
I reckon what this thread is telling us is that Ross is very much underated by many of us (me included) When his rate of possession accumulation drops off, we seem rudderless in the middle. Not saying he isn't working hard because 10 tackles clearly indicates that he is. But he needs to find a way ...

Round 2-7 disposals: 24, 24, 30, 26, 24, 27 Round 8-13 disposals: 12, 19, 12, 16, 14 Simply not good enough for a mid from Ross the last 5 games stretch Pretty simplistic assessment. Re: For team balance, it’s Byrnes vs Ross
Both important tonight Defensively Ross did a job on Warner Byrnes ran hard on the wing Warner goes hard too, there were no easy touches and the kid can play. Ross was really smart, tackled cleanly and looked really strong. Windhager got the job on Warner in second half. Warner killed us in the fir...
