Re: Trade Hypothetical - Honest question, I'm interested in what people think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nup. I doubt we'll be making any knee jerk moves based on 2020 performances for core players. Jack is a known quantity and and a better strategy would be to compliment Jack and others struggling at present with gettable qualtiy midfielders. Billings like most can take a get out of jail free card for...

Yep but which game was more appealing to you? yesterday's game or last year's game, OR the Tassie game?kosifantutti wrote: ↑Mon 07 Sep 2020 11:18am Compare it to any game last year. How many times did we score more than 80 points last year in games that were 25% longer?

Re: Billings frustrating
I think Jack is one of those players who gets better with better players around him. 100% agree, however it is why this season has seen Jack attract the down hill skier tag when those other quality players aren't in the side. It also highlights his inability to be the onfield leader type we've been...

Re: Football is Unrecognisable
What a goal fest. Saints 11G Hawks 9G . 20 goals in 16 minute quarters. In the corresponding game last year there were 19 goals kicked in 20 minute quarters under a roof. What point are you trying to make? Which game was more appealing to you? Can I introduce the win against the Hawks down at Tassi...

Re: Billings frustrating
I think it's a case of lowering expectations. He's best 22, he's just not going to be in the conversation when discussing other pick 3s and will settle in quality somewhere between an A and B grader. But that's ok, you need a few of those types in your team. The frustrating part is he's not going to...

Re: What was the last good game we played?
Teams have worked us out by zoning deep defensively to not allow the goals from close range. We have to find another way or be more accurate from distance. Our straight kicking flattered a lot of our early performances. AFL coaches don't need to wait a whole season to "work a team out", t...

Re: Changes for the West Coast game!!!!!
The calls for Roberton to play are baffling, I half can understand calls for Savage. Roberton and Savage wont play again this year,, maybe they might take the big gamble with Savage but it's way too late in the Season to try and get players fittness and conditioning up to a level that won't embarras...

Re: Football is Unrecognisable
What a goal fest. Saints 11G Hawks 9G Clearly our young team has been compromised by the impact of rolling out the Asterisk Cup. Clearly the "festival of footy", 3 hour bus rides each way to a game, restricted training conditions and the list goes on. The bottom line in amongst all the sla...

Re: Football is Unrecognisable
Each year the AFL always pushes the envelope when it comes to the number of rounds played. Even this season, it has gone on at least two weeks too long. But it's same old, same old and it happens every year. It's quality v quantity and there are just at too many dead rubbers to make viewing games i...

Please if you don’t have anything nice to say start your own negative thread and if you have a great memory leave it here As a club in the last few years we have not had too many milestones to celebrate, but we get one today Many forget that Jarryn was a rising star nomination in 2008 In our great ...

Re: Tiger trains with Hannas and Gaz
Biggie and Gresh are there too. From what one could see Hannas moved quite freely, but obviously in a tiny area. That Gresh did not partake with so little time left does not bode well for 2020, though perhaps they were just wanting to be ultra cautious given that rest seems to be the main treatment...

Re: Football is Unrecognisable
Good op, although I feel “unrecognisable”, is a tad harsh. This week I forced myself to watch a couple of non Saints games in their entirety, and did detect some brief segments of recognisable good AFL footy amongst the rolling mauls, and the “mutually agreeable circle work” (love that term). I wou...

Re: Football is Unrecognisable
I tend to agree with SK. Not as an asterisk Premiership, but games are becoming unwatchable. Friday night a case in point, Collingwood v Brisbane. One of the most pressure filled games I've seen on the TV. But as a spectacle? Crap. Too many players on the ground - too many interchanges. I'd love to...

Re: Carlisle
Carlisle is incredibly important to our side, it is no coincidence that we lose when he doesn't play.
Howard has been a liability at times and so without Jake down back our backline is vulnerable and with Kingy being a work in progress Battle has to go forward often further exposing Howard.

Re: Team vs Hawks
Marsh and Lonie were the obvious ins. Kingy would have had a spell, needs one urgently, Member's finger kept him in. Did I read a reference back to the 2010 season in this thread? Really weird. It's really simple, we are short a few qualtiy players AND, it's the Asterisk Cup which means what I hear ...

Re: No. 14. What you see is what you get.
Some posters on here understand how a club works, some don't. Gears took over the Captaincy at a very challenging time, the list condition barely had options for AFL capable players let alone leaders. We were deep in transition, and arguably still are, Gears has held himself with absolute class and ...

Re: Football is Unrecognisable
Take a look at tonights game between the Pies and Lions, not a bad standard in the early parts of the game, at times the intensity and excellence looked familiar and frequent scoring looked a possibility, however even well before Q3 was over, most players had hit the wall and struggled to drag thems...

Re: Football is Unrecognisable
Unrecognisable by definition means no resemblance to what we know by sense. It is still 18 teams, made of 22 players on match day, 18 on the field, 4 on the bench, no change to rotations, no change to rules (possibly interpretation, but that is week to week as well as year to year). Matches are sho...

Re: Football is Unrecognisable
The question of whether or not the 2020 AFL premiership is at "full strength" or otherwise is immaterial, as is whether or not people like or dislike the quality of football this year. Everyone is entitled to their personal opinion. Me? I really enjoy the footy this year and admire the wa...
