I think your right those behind him wearing the tee shirt those paying for the lawyers , sadly are using him too cash in treating Nicky as just a pawn and its disguising. You see " cash for racism" works for both sides
I don't understand your point.

Re: Nicky Winmar suing Sam Newman and co-hosts for attempt to revise historical moment

We have Saintsationals version of Salem going on here. God forbid you have opinion that is non conformist or you'll be burnt at the stake for witchcraft (though I do think hanging was actually the preferred punishment of the day). As a 35yo white male, I'm in no position to make the rules on what's...

I actually reckon I've only been to about 4 or 5 games of footy since that night. Awful. Grotesque.

The North game was and you were about 5 at the time.

Still not sure what point I'm missing?
Didn't know they played night games at Moorabbin?

.... has only been to a handful of games in the last 30 years..... ?? Short term memory issues at 35, feeling sorry for you Barry Goneagain. On a side note, FWIW, the worst racial abuse I've ever witnessed was at from North supporters at Moorabbin about 30 years ago - and even worse yet at the 05 P...

Re: Nicky Winmar suing Sam Newman and co-hosts for attempt to revise historical moment

Now I'm no mathematician, but going by your own posts if you are 35 years old now and went to a game 30 years ago where you witnessed racial abuse, you don't need to be Terence Tao to work out you were circa 5 years old at that time. Am I missing something? Well you're clearly missing the point, th...

Re: Ruckman and kicking.

He’s a good kick though Curly. It may not always come off, but don’t you like that he backs himself? He may be a good kick but he should be giving it off to the ball carriers. To be fair, unless it's Hill, Hannebury or Billings - I'd much rather Marshall kick it himself than give it off. Billings H...

Re: Nicky Winmar suing Sam Newman and co-hosts for attempt to revise historical moment

You must have been a very articulate and worldly five year old when you went to that match at Moorabbin 30 years ago to witness such racial abuse and make a bold and defining decision to attend only spasmodically over the next 30 years. Was the abuse leveled at our players by North fans or at North...

Re: Nicky Winmar suing Sam Newman and co-hosts for attempt to revise historical moment

Not necessarily. What I meant was their recollections of the event might be influenced by what they read at the time. I wouldn't expect them to actually recall and restate where they got the info 27 years ago. In fact, I don't expect much from them at all - they're both pretty inarticulate guys so ...

Re: Nicky Winmar suing Sam Newman and co-hosts for attempt to revise historical moment

Maybe Don Scott etc were just recalling what they read in the Herald Sun at the time rather than being rampant racists. I would have thought that if that's all they meant, they'd have actually said that. Sheahan pretty much did say that, to be fair. The other two though, very clearly disputed Winma...

I saw an interesting point somewhere about Richmond and crowds.

The suggestion was that they have been somewhat reliant on them, and have suffered as a result of the emptt stadiums.

Re: Nicky Winmar suing Sam Newman and co-hosts for attempt to revise historical moment

Charlie McAdam, down from Alice Springs, didn’t see much of it. He’d been forcefully removed from his mother when he was six. He’d worked as a stockman and a boxer. He was standing in the outer but the abuse directed towards his son quickly proved too much. He left Victoria Park in tears. He listen...

saintkid wrote: Sun 28 Jun 2020 9:55am I agree with you Moods. Gresham used to be mostly clean with his ball use and at times clever. This year to date he has been quite poor and that is disappointing, as he was one of the shining lights when we were really struggling as a team.
His kicking has been atrocious for a few years now.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Tigers Round 4 2020

It would be nice to see DH start to earn the $800k a season we pay him. Hasn’t done enough for even top 10 money since he walked in the door. Wow. Serious bias. Roo kept bringing Dan into the conversation. I think Dan is doing exactly what he was recruited to do. I agree. He is an excellent footbal...

Re: Match Thread Saints v Tigers Round 4 2020

And you're off your nut about Hill. If you believe that a hard ball get or a contested mark is equal to loose ball get then I’m sorry but we must value possessions a bit differently. He'd be first picked. 'Hard ball get' is like screaming 'Kick the bloody thing!'. The game has changed. It's a runni...

Re: Match Thread Saints v Tigers Round 4 2020

Jones and Hill only just earning their keep. Earning their keep??!! They're easily in the top 5 at the club! And that's even when they're not playing well! Jones needs to make sure he doesn’t turn it over when he’s got time and space on his side. Early on tonight his disposal was poor. Hill needs t...
