Re: I didnt know....
With one in six adults in the US now taking psychiatric drugs - and they are the ones who have been presumably been already diagnosed - and alcohol being more recognized as an ‘off label’ med itself, is there anybody, anywhere still swimming between the flags of what was once considered mentally hea...

Re: New kick-in rule.
We were discussing Geary being given open space by the opposition to collect kick ins from behinds in a pocket. Perhaps that dynamic will be changed and JG might do something different. Does the rule allow -say for example - a back pocket - to swing in behind the kick out player and collect via the ...

Which footy and radio shows will you tune to in ‘19?
Nearly seven months since our last game and nearly seven weeks til our next, what TV shows are you gonna watch for season 2019. Being O/S I rely on bits and pieces uploaded to YT. Footy Classified was a favorite but the uploads vanished mid-2018 and Zso I watched Talking Footy. What are your opinion...

Re: Gears to stay skipper
https://afltables.com/afl/stats/players/J/Jarryn_Geary.html Seems like last year was JGs first where his handball disposals exceeded his kicks. What's the stat for number of players in the backline versus game time. He would have felt like a traffic cop in a phone box last year. Which begs the ques...

Re: Gears to stay skipper
1. Geary does not man up, going to contests... leaving players free to damage us.. 2. From behinds...left free in a pocket...a liability in regards run and carry 3 ..not... have the skill set to “lead from the front” impacting on the performance of the side (...will never be a mid-fielder In terms ...

Re: Gears to stay skipper
Well, this has been an informing one. Living in Japan I see almost no football, and I have learnt bits and pieces about players and the side thanks to you lot in the past 6 months or so. I really made an effort during the GT and RL era but alas..still a saint tho.. The tiny bit I have seen of Geary ...

Re: Gears to stay skipper
I will be really disappointed if Geary is indeed going to lead the team for a 3rd year. .... he is only an average player. He is listed as our 12th best in the AFL player rankings, but perhaps his stats are inflated by what Saynta suggested, that opposition deliberately allow him space to collect a...

Re: Gears to stay skipper
The fact Gears has been elected twice already (pretty much a third time it appears) to lead the club onfield speaks volumes IMO. These blokes play under him so there you have it. He is a natural and strong leader. As the inside AFL article suggested....the room listened when he spoke up. He has com...

Re: Gears to stay skipper
Looks like a 'Steady as She Goes' approach. Do you see him playing the same negating role in defense? And hypothetically, who would he be keeping out talent wise?

Dunstall at FF for the Big V and Plugger in the pocket riled me.
Same for MMM radio GF coverage with Dunstall as leading comments man and Spud relegated to 'extra comments.'

Re: Plugger v Dunstall: Cringeworthy +
I was upset when they picked Dunstall as FF for the Big V and put Plugger in the pocket. I was also upset when MMM chose Dunstall for special comments in one GF and relegated Spud to “extra” comments. Very rational of me.

Re: Shanghai - Who is making the trip?
Considering our record in these overseas games, and our record against Port Adelaide over the years, I won't be attending, but if you treat it as an experience I'll bet it will be very interesting. I am just a bit fed up with how every time we get offered opportunities to play opposition for points...

Re: Paddy - now or never!
Right. Pls calm down, I’m not comparing an image to Kosi in the his early years or even mid career. I’m speaking of the latter part. I take your point about his value early and mid-career. Right now Paddy has no established record like Kosi had, so I was hypothetically suggesting, if - and who knows...

Re: Paddy - now or never!
How different is Kosi in his latter incarnation than what Paddy could be? Super high draft pic that never reached the heights we hoped or thought possible. Although a fine soldier who rucked too and covered so well when Roo went down in -was it?- 2011? Kosi, if I remember from about then, got injure...

Re: Why did we drop Tim Allen at the end of ‘92
Great hands, and saw him kick a left foot hooking goal in play beauty, swinging around , after feigning for a rightward movement. Sort of skill I would have thought rod Owen and that kind of level player had. Perhaps lacked grunt. Just saying, because we lost a highly skilled player. I guess the fac...

Why did we drop Tim Allen at the end of ‘92
? Saw him on a few YT clips. Great skills. He left us at 22 years old played a few for Hawthorn and one at Geelong. By ‘95 he was out of the AFL system at 24/25 years old? Who did we get for him? I know we had Plugger and Loewe as Geelong had Big Billy and Ablett but still.. Plugger was often sideli...

Re: HS season preview Saints
Seems like a “Feel Good” article and I suspect that all 18 teams will be given hope in the series. I’d only rate these if it suggested which teams will make way for us or whatever team they are juicing in their article, to rise up on a scale that the tone of the article implies. But interesting rid-...

Re: Hannebury Hurts Sometimes.....
Am I right in putting out the names of Judd and Jarman (Darren) when I think of players going to second clubs with a history of hamstring issues? I think Judd lost plenty of games at Carlton due to injury and as for Jarman I do it know, I got the impression they were both well worth it to those club...

Re: Daw injured
Fingers crossed. Whether or not Majak Daw will enjoy answering some cheesey Breakfast Show Host’s inane questions in ten years about how he fell and why, I know he will feel some empathy right now. Whether that is enough, let’s hope. Who knows, he might just decide, to move to Moorabbin and, with Ja...

Re: Daw rumor, suicide attempt
Around 25-28 years ago I worked in the West of Melbourne and crossed the Westgate every day. That was early days of Crown Casino and back then there was a car parked on the bridge two or three times a week and often a recovery process down below. I spoke with a senior policeman at the time who said...
