Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)
At that price, they're welcome to him. Struggled with injury, crook knees and couldn't get a regular game at GWS. Glad we didn't use pick 8 on him.

We'll do a "Bradbury". After all the jockeying, bluff and bluster, the saints will be the only ones left standing when the real dealing is done. Hang in there. Patience, grasshoppers.

Haynes and Tomlinson? Yes, please. For pick 8? Daryl Kerrigan is on the phone. We may have to throw in Hickey as well, but yes, yes, yes. Make it so, number one. I believe GWS wanted Gresham in a straight swap for Tomlinson. Hahahahahahahaha!

Re: Jon Ralph
Maybe the saints are being discerning and not throwing away valuable draft picks and money on average players. Ralph has never been a fan of the saints and his stance shows his ignorance of the situation. HAs he considered the fact that other clubs have made approaches to players who subsequently no...

Re: Completed Trades, all clubs
No surprises there. 7 and 8 a nice position to be in. Please nail those picks! On another note, how far up the order could we get an upgrade. Would Brisbane take 1 for 7 & 8. Would you be satisfied with pick 2 from the GC? Personally, I think there's enough quality early on to justify hanging o...

Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)
I get the feeling we are not done yet. Expect a Kiwi (1983) like run towards the end. Let the others do the posturing, huffing and puffing. Then when the deals need to be done, we'll swoop. I still reckon we might bag a decent player or two while hanging onto 7 or 8.LEt the dopers, filth, suns and d...

Re: Picks 7 & 8 since 2009
Happy if we traded out pick 43 for a fringe and young FB/CHB that shows alot of promise. Jack Steven, arguably our best player of the last 10 drafts, was Pick 42 ;) Haha. True. Better keep it then! :D In all seriousness though, all credit to Jack Steven. He shows that a later pick can turn very spe...

Re: Picks 7 & 8 since 2009
Among those picked after number 6 in the 2015 draft were Jacob Hopper, Sam Weideman, Harry McKay, Charlie Curnow, Daniel Rioli, Harrison Himmelberg, Eric Hipwood, Ryan Burton and our own Jade Gresham. I'd be happy to take any two of equivalent ability to this lot. They're out there. You just have to...

And while I'm at it, they have Rob Kerr (Derr was his nickname when he worked at the PA :) ) as their footy chief. I hope he does as good a job at the dopers as he did as list manager at Brisbane. Lost player after player and rode that list to the bottom. They're still recovering. Here's doping, I m...

Re: They will all learn
Essendon are the most arrogant club at this time of year. They will really struggle to land all 3 players they want being right royal tightarses. I would love it if another club swoops in late and steals one of these guys. I don't know where Essendon get it from....it must be the 80's big 4 arrogan...

I have little confidence in Paddy McC being a regular senior player, with his diabetes and that other issue... He may play 16 games in a row, in an ideal world, but I don't think he can play 3 in a row comfortably. Therefore I would love the club to grab the best forward prospect, to add to our oth...

Re: They will all learn
In his dreams. The Essendope tactic is to be a complete dick in negotiations, give nothing, demand everything and then wait for the other side to crack. Worked a treat with Carlisle, didn't it? I think their well-deserved reputation for being the worst club to deal with will surely start to bite. Sh...

Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)
According to the TradeWhisperer, we are in discussions with Carlton around swapping our 2 draft picks for pick 3. I assume we get something back. they havent got much else to give back. they dont have a second round pick. they wouldnt give a future first, we wouldnt want a future second. maybe a pl...

Billy is quick, but he's not the greatest kick. It's a no from me. We need elite kicks more than anything.

Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)
Yes the the strategy after having missed out on a genuine Big Fish mid like Kelly now seems to be: - to keep our first two picks for best available mids, - while shoring up our height in the backline through trades and/or late use of picks/rookie pick. - to try and trade off a player or two if the ...

Any way you add it up, it's hilarious. One can only hope he stuffs this year's trades up as badly. I know Schadenfreude is not a healthy thing to indulge in, but in this case, a little of what's bad for you is actually good.

I don't want to be a negative Nelly, but how will he do justice to our already thin ruck stocks if he has a full time gig trying to revive a club that was close to extinction? Amateur hour at the saints, I'm afraid. Get a full time coach in who can devote all his attention to us.

Re: Saints were involved in one of the worst trades in histo
Has someone explained to King that we effectively got Carlisle AND Gresham for pick 5? Or does that still not register in the 4 neurons he possesses in that nest of vipers he calls a brain? We actually gave up both 5 and 24 in the deal. Both first and second round picks to get Carlisle and pick 14,...
