Re: Lever
Someone mentioned that at the B & F, Paddy was standing next to Baroose and looked taller. Baroose is listed as 197 cm. Paddy was drafted at 194 cm, IIRC. Has he grown that much or was he wearing high heels that night? If he's 197 and leaner and can run better as a result, there could be some ha...

Re: Saints best and worst trades
Did a Shanahan / Jarman that fateful day against Brainless at Waverley. Could've easily won it that year if we'd got past Geelong. Did a Shanahan / Jarman. Surely you jest? What did Shanahan do wrong? The only person who stuffed up that day was Stan Alves, by not moving Jamie! I believe Shanahan pl...

Re: Barrett claiming Saints have tabled a deal for Tomlinson
All the dominoes will fall around midday next Thursday. Most of the deals are done in the last two hours and there's always a surprise or two. The circus should be trimmed to one week. I suppose all this coverage of nothing keeps the AFL in the media while there's nothing else to see.

No, no and no. Logan Austin from the Port Sewer might be a chance. A lot like Goddard in size and style, moves a little quicker.

Re: Completed Trades, all clubs
They'll only get a compo pick for Motflop. Based on a number of things, mainly the size of the contract he's been offered by the Power. Probably a second rounder, methinks.

Harding, Russo and Handley for pick one in 1988. At least Hawthorn only took Alex McDonald at one. Russo and HAndley were soon gone and Harding's last game for us was the 1991 elimination final, where he played on Billy Brainless, who tore us a new one, kicking 8. Pipped in a year we were a real ch...

I've heard that too, ps. The "deal" is far from dead, apparently.parkeysainter wrote:Whisper is we're a massive chance to land him still. Just passing it on.

Re: Saints Playing Their Cards Right in Trade Period
Negativity is one thing, but gee whiz, if Ameet Bains recruited a three-legged dog there are people on here who'd been lauding his genius and saying the dog will be better in time than Josh Kelly. The dog would have a head start. It has an extra leg. Aren't we always keen on players who can "g...

I believe the man holding the remote is kosifantutti. I'd recognise that hand anywhere. If not kft, then it's Thing from The Adams family. Howell, Griffiths, Moran, Cooper. Can't place number 27. No idea.

I don't think they'll regret it too much, but let's see how good he is in an ordinary side, an average defence, playing against the best forward the opposition has, week in, week out. I don't think he's elite, not yet anyway. Two first rounders? Pfft!

Re: Agressive, not reckless.
There are two exceptions to this. Watts and stringer. Both are A grade and could be elite, both are dangerous players with X factor and required development. We could use either or both and probably get them with pick 8 and a 3rd rounder. Standby, maverick. It ain't over until it's over, although W...

What the saints don't need or want are overpriced malcontents , sooky cry babies who want to come home to mummy or players their clubs don't want or need because they simply arent good enough. And that's really only what is on offer as far as I can see. Exactly, my dear saynta. Couldn't have said i...

Re: Corrupt AFL Never Learn
Correct, saynta. Every other large and influential organisation faces governance from one sort of regulatory body or another, whether it be ASIC, IBAC, the Government Inspectorate, and industry-specific watchdogs. Who actually governs the AFL? The Minister of Sport? Who would step in and sanction th...

Re: Agressive, not reckless.
I think the reality is that the club has been forced to turn back to youth after failing to convince any of the desired BigFish to join us. All the teeth gnashing in the world does not alter the reality that very good players rarely join teams outside of the 8, and that the club got it wrong to fin...

In addition, next year, Sloane and Lynch will be well and truly available. That's when I'd prefer to have my "war chest' ready. Imagine our list being a year further advanced and adding two genuine stars to it? One a gun forward and natural leader, the other a midfield beast. That's before any ...

Jack Steele said we'd get Josh Kelly in 2 years. There's a chance he was joking... But I'm choosing to believe him :). At the B & F one of the players said we would be getting Sloane in 2019. Maybe before that????? I think he was talking about this time next year. In time for the 2919 season. F...

If Devon Smith can’t play at least 50% of game time as an effective midfielder then he is useless to us. NO This. He can't. Glad the dopers gave up 11 for him. Way over. bloody GWS offload someone who can't get a regular game for them and get a high draft pick in return. The farce the AFL created c...
