Re: Tarryn Thomas, anyone?
The AFL's "stand" on social issues is not genuine it's marketing think. Great concern for mental health, other medical causes, the vulnerable - sponsored by big betting. Greenwashing a huge social evil. The Anzac ceremonies are very moving however the Collingwood v Essendon "tradition...

Re: Higgins Alir incident
How is it League and Union players tackle all game long, almost every play and players are not continually suspended, for tackles below the head/neck region.
I think umpires not paying quick htb penalties has contributed to the current nonsense.

Re: AFL’s play thing
Supporters of other clubs and commentators all see the treatment we get and largely raise eyebrows but don't care because it's not their side. AFL GHQ know that.

I doubt current AFLGHQ management can manage much at all.
I see why Gills Departure was so long.
Doubt the Board see Dillon and Kane as stars.

Re: Higgins Alir incident
Incrementally a picture of what's not allowed is emerging. It would be so much better if the AFL prescribed what can happen, whether you have good bloke status or not. AFL doesn't have a clue and has outsourced to MRO and Tribunal, who similarly have no clue. They look at outcome, player status and ...

Silly really. When we make finals regularly our membership will grow muchly. The AFL should not obstruct our rise.

Re: Let’s talk about cheating
The agenda is even clearer after tonight. If AFL GHQ are fair dinkum, not just laying groundwork to defend future cases, the tribunal will issue a statement cautioning Allirx2 and players generally about his/their responsibilities in regard to taking care. I haven't read the judgement and know it's...

The quiet curse has been the career stymieing injuries to young potential key defenders.
Plus not grooming a replacement for Membrey.
The loud curse has been a pedestrian mid field and frequent changes to the wings combinations.

Re: Ross weekly Pressers
Those pressers are an exercise in bulldust, a complete waste of time. Exactly. Why fuss. Last genuine one was Kim Huges resignation. Footy journos are pathetic. Every coach does the presser through gritted teeth. Except Voss who is very up himself and thinks people care what he says. But even he ta...

Re: Let’s talk about cheating
I get the OP statement but winning teams nearly always get strongly favoured by the umpires and we didn't lose simply because of bad umpiring call, although I was shocked over and over again by their pathetic decisions, we lost because we were no-where near good enough with the players we had avail...

Re: Let’s talk about cheating
If that were the case wouldn't the poor decisions be the same but be equally split between teams so free kick counts would not be so ridiculously one sided?Sainter_Dad wrote: ↑Mon 29 Apr 2024 9:21am Lets call it what it is - not cheating - but incompetence by overpaid non-professional un-professionals

Re: Comparing our Outs to other teams
Isn't that what the ladder does, in a crude sense ? noting draw is weird, umpires can impact results and injuries matter. On a weighted seasonal adjusted basis, discounting outliers we are probably 8th with a bullet, maybe a slug, or pellet. Anyway respectable. Now with an ounce of luck and a pinch ...

Re: Let’s talk about cheating
I’m just confused as to where all these passionate umpiring critics were after our games vs Collingwood and Richmond 🙈 Just ponder for a while. A possible answer will form. Reprise the decisions where you think umpires cheated for us. Then rethink it. Then try to put it all in context. If your team...

Of course its not a dual narrative. Its a single narrative: Ross aims to improve the club incrementally over 5 years and this improvement has a number of strands (obvious to those that have real world experience and don't believe in fairies or magic? - although Harry Potter is true, I read the book)...

Re: Let’s talk about cheating
What do we know about the current senior umpiring group? Most seem athletic enough, not many spew at 3/4 time or cramp up. We know they are largely respectful of each other's decisions, not demurring even when they know a mistake has been made. Nice tight and supportive. We know they have collective...

So what's the def of boring? Clearly not close exciting finishes according to Scotty boy (who is he?). Ross must have embarrassed him in public. Who starts a newspaper story with a snide insult, amateur vindictiveness. Ross has a distinguished record, what's Scott got: a certificate in creative writ...

Get a grip Yorkeys. There's no need to get on your high horse because I've got a different opinion than you regarding 'what cost us the game' You're not a better supporter of the club.
