Re: AFLW, Trades aplenty and a mega deal

Not going to lie, I see this as a massive net win. The G train has stayed in the station since her All Australian season, and it hasn’t even been an injury cloud or anything, so Wardlaw would be an upgrade. Disappointed to see Shierlaw go, but she is 33 or so now, so if she wants to see success, I ...

Losing both Shierlaw and Greiser is a big surprise. We will definitely need to sign Wardlaw.

Re: Australia in India: Train Wreck?

My dear old grandpa used to tell me that cheats never prosper. That was decades before the Indians had money and power. Lol. In 1700 India produced 25% of the world's GDP. In 1950, when the poms farked off, its contribution to the global GDP had declined to 4%. There's been some dirty tactics and c...

Re: What a brilliant draft - well done Saints!

It is important to benchmark this thread . It may turn out that these blokes can’t play. In years to come people - with the benefit of hindsight - might say “ Look, we picked some dud at pick 10 and we missed a Brownlow medallist at 11. The recruiters are idiots”. That is an invalid argument. The re...

Re: Welcome Mattaes Phillipou

Getting back to the topic at hand , I heard Mattaes interviewed on RSN this morning . For what it is worth ( and accepting that oratory does not make a footballer ) , he was super-impressive. Great attitude. Most significantly, was very happy to talk up his fellow SA draftee Isaac Keeler .

Re: Welcome Mattaes Phillipou

Apparently born 27 December 04. Five days younger and he would not even be eligible for the draft . That logically means he has more potential upside than all the other boys selected .

Maybe DMac is now also on the injury-susceptible list given his persistent calf problems kept him off the park from his mid-season knock that should have only taken a few weeks. So we have; Billings Jones Gresham Gresh And maybe DMac and let’s hope Marshall is OK back wise All suspects in the chron...

The great Frankie Vergona. He was a brilliant umpire - if you were Fred Cook. He loved paying frees to Freddie in the goal square in front of the Burrough faithful.

Re: Private School intake Draft Day

From very limited “research”… Overall, in 2019-20 the commonwealth spent $3,246 on public school students and the states spent $11,935, for a total of $15,181. Meanwhile, the commonwealth spent $10,211 for each private school student and the states spent $2,978, a total of $13,189. Can we then star...

Another excellent win. 9.9 to 1.4. Yes they were playing a first year team, and will face tougher opponents in coming weeks, but Dal has them playing a polished brand of footy. They are happy to switch into the corridor, and have the skills to pull it off. Our key forwards Greiser and Shierlaw kicke...

Re: AFLW Does anyone really care?

Our tackling has been fabulous tonight. We lead the tackle count 41 to 19. Now up 7.5 to 3.1 early in the last . Kate Shierlaw looking great up forward. Georgia Patrikios getting a lot of the footy in her first game back, but she ( as with all the players ) is struggling to find space on the tiny No...

Yes i didn’t quite find a vote for Lienert, but he did look good- definitely a keeper for next season; and Wilkie ever-reliable albeit against an ageing opponent!

Re: Saints v swines. Gameday thread

Been playing well, but some basic skill error cost goals. Plenty of chances to be even with them if basic targets had been hit. Ben Long has been very good down back Glad someone is calling out Longs good form here and the way we've gone about it. Plenty to like about this game for a team that isn'...

In the parallel universe Cowboy Neale caught up with Bob Keddie at the start of the last quarter and delivered a hard-but-fair bump that disabled Keddie , and we now have 13 flags .

Great interview on AFL 360. Robbo with the hard hitting questions. “How far do you think you could run without stopping?” They should just get the Auskick kids on to ask the questions. Robbo treated him like he was 8 years old with his pathetic questions . Totally cringeworthy . Marcus was excellen...

Any chance we can get Stewart Loewe down there over summer to drill him on a few fundamentals and simple techniques as taught to him by Peter Hudson. Really, if you'd have seen Loewe early on in his career. He was a kicking dufus. If someone so inept can become a generally reliable kick, there is h...

Sadly it is 9, and presumably will slip to 10 when Brisbane match an early bid for Ashcroft .

It may be too low for us to secure Academy player Cameron McKenzie. I see Cal Twomey has him at 6.
