Re: Changes. Who comes in?

Surely Lonie can't be selected again. In Roo, Marshall, Stevens (if fit) Out Lonie, Weller, McKenzie I would still prefer Hickey or Holmes to Longer but won't happen. (Hickey's last 2 weeks in VFL ok, BOG or close to two weeks ago) Hickey will need to string a few together at the VFL level - hope h...

Re: Billy Cost Us The Game

Marshall and a pinch hitter, crossy66? We need quality midfielders - if we get a second round pick for Billy, I'd take it (which we could then combine with other picks to get a quality midfielder across). Marshall looks a great prospect Sam, particularly around the ground. atm though he is more a K...

He has a big heart and what he is offering is physicality - which (the odds are) will logically wane over time, as he gets older and more battered.

Re: Billy Cost Us The Game

This response is symptomatic of why St Kilda has won just the one premiership in its history, that by one point in 1966. The bounday throw in exposed a break down - firstly in that the opposition ruckman had an unimpeded contest on the ball. The wider ramification is the protection of and defence o...

Re: Billy Cost Us The Game

The question is not the last ruck contest on the weekend but in how many of those 60 games has his opposite number been the opposition's best player or high in their best? Ryder received 8 Coaches votes We have to aspire higher to succeed And that is the problem as we turn our List, because Longer ...

Re: Billy Cost Us The Game

Having watched the game three times, I'm staggered nobody has commented on the elephant in the room. Billy Longer cost us the game. All he needed to do was contest that last ruck contest. He didn't. We lost! Statistics for the game would indicate that you're right, Bernard! Ryder had 15 possessions...

Re: Is roo worth a list spot

I don't understand why this is an issue? He's still one of our best 10 players and he's on one leg. Every opposition team would rather play a St Kilda without Nick Riewoldt than with him. Pretty accurate. If his knee stands up he is still our best key forward, so its just a matter of how many games...

McCartin to the backline?

Interesting article from Garry Lyon. Thinks Paddy could play a Jeremy McGovern role down back

Re: So let's talk about our ruck situation...

Impatient Sainter. Agree to disagree re: delisting Pierce & Holmes. In fact, I'd like to see Pierce given an extended opportunity in the first team. Agree. Not sure of the wisdom in drafting ruckmen, they spend 5+ years on your list before you work out how good they will be. The model is to tra...

Re: So let's talk about our ruck situation...

. With two high draft picks, High? Hawks will finish most likely finish about 12th. Saints 7-10th. That is picks 7 and 9-12th. Nice, but hardly in the territory to draft the best kids. Though using both may land Kelly. Meanwhile North look to finish second last and that would assist in giving them ...

Re: So let's talk about our ruck situation...

Our rucks are fine. Billy will be our number one for years and will be one of the best going around in time. Just clicked over 50 games and is the second youngest of the number one rucks in the league. Everyone knows ruckmen take time to develop and i think Billy is coming along nicely. We just need...

Re: Great Teams

Whilst it was hard to sit through last night, Its not all doom and gloom. How many teams this year have won 5 in a row ? It tough for the more mature teams so an even bigger challenge for young players and young teams to maintain consistency of effort and we just arent there yet. The big difference ...
