Re: Sharman will become the GOAT in 2024....

If Tim Membrey gets back to playing in best form it might be difficult for Cooper Sharman to get a game as third tall, a role that Michito Owens excelled in last year; Mattaes Phillipou is another one in contention for that spot. While I like Sharman, I'm not sure he is in my best 23, much will depe...

Re: Champion Data Club by Club rankings 2024

Champion Data stats the way they are related in this article are pretty meaningless as it is based on individual players rather than the performance of the team in 2023. St Kilda having achieved the comp's best defensive system in 2023 is a far more important guide to how our team will perfom in 202...

Re: Saints snare Simon Dalrymple

So Lyon is hiring and firing? Interesting Not normally the role of the senior coach Lyon would not be hiring and firing, that is not the role of the SC, but he would have significant input on who he wants or the type of person he wants. There's absolutely nothing wrong with a senior coach building ...

St Kilda to kick on

From today's Hun, not to be read by anyone who disparages the Murdoch press  " ST KILDA TO KICK ON by Jay Clark They have already been dubbed likely sliders in 2024. The popular theory is St Kilda caught the opposition off guard in 2023 by making finals but are set to come back to the pack...

Having left Melbourne forever in 1958 and now living in Brisbane I feel really grateful to be part of this online supporters group to quench my insatiable appetite for all things St Kilda. Re: Will Jack Higgins go up a level?

It's interesting to look deeper into the stats, following are the comparisons of goal kicking accuracy between Jack Higgins and Dan Butler in 2023: Higgins averaged 2.3 shots at goal per game with accuracy at 43.4% Butler averaged 3.8 shots at goal per game with accuracy of 61.1% Butler clearly is w...

Re: Will Jack Higgins go up a level?

Although the stats say that Higgins had a better season in 2023, there were times when I felt he was underperforming with wastefulness in front of goals his major weakness. There has also been criticism that he is below par in defensive pressure, with his partner in crime Dan Butler rating much high...

Re: Windhager at HB

I wouldn't be taking much notice of remarks by Ross Lyon such as this one about Windhager. As Vortex has perceptively pointed out, today's game is not really about individual running players such as Windhager being locked down in just one position. Windhager is on the cusp of establishing himself in...

Re: Goals

Of course, they should kick it to King, but that misses the point of the discussion. It's a problem when they constantly look for him when he has three opposition defenders hanging off him instead of other players who are in a better position. It's a double-edged sword. Perhaps it's time for King t...

Re: We’re going to win the premiership in 2024!!!

One doesn't have to go that far back, in fact one only has to review the 2023 season to know we are a fair way off it, for large portions of the season we were very average, had it not been for a very easy draw and results from other clubs going our way we wouldn't have got anywhere near the finals...

Re: Au Revoir Chris Toce

Not a big deal, Toce has been at St Kilda for 9 years in variuous roles and it's not at all unreasonable or unusual that either the club, or Toce, or both, decided it was time for a change. Let's face it, the final decisions on which draftee or trade prospect comes into the club is collegiate, betwe...

Re: RTB presser.

Does any of the contract stuff have anything to do with why he was picked week in and week out (Pou) even when others may have impacted more? I don't think so, I believe a far greater factor in Phillipou's destiny to remain with St Kilda medium/long term is how the team performs overall in the comp...

Re: We’re going to win the premiership in 2024!!!

I've concluded for some time that St Kilda will make top 4 in 2024 and if that turns out to be true there's good reason to argue the team can go all the way to the GF and win that elusive 2nd flag. Even the media pundits who think St Kilda will slide out of the eight have admitted that St Kilda has ...

Re: Where to for Dougal Howard and what does our defence look like?

Howard's at a crucial junction in his footy career, he turns 28 in March next year and should be at his prime, yet was injured and lost form, played 18 games last season in 3 of which he was subbed off. With Lyon's strict policy of players doing their utmost to work hard and get the best out of them...

You might have something there skeptic. In the the current 'woke' era of political correctness it is not at all surprising that some clubs will have dismissed Schoenmaker lest his past history, even if of trivial concern, might be evidence of the club having a poor culture. Re: SEN listeners don’t rate us 📻

Those with a good memory will remember after the 08 finals series that everyone predicted that we would slide down the ladder. We finished top 4 by smashing the bombers reserves team by over 100 points in the last game of the H&A season to win either 13 or 14 games. It was a very average group ...
