Re: Mister 92%
Our defenders went backwards and sideways at every opportunity, it was like 2009 all over again. Not hard to get good efficiency stats in that situation! That said, Gilbo was good today. That's true as SW obviously loves switching. Showed real authority in pack marking contests today stopping GC fw...

Re: Hickey
He's developed some confidence in the last couple of games for sure and is taking the game on. When he outmarked 2 GC defenders my heart lept. But remember its been mostly McEvoy who's been the main ruck all year and coping most of the physical smashing. Hickey has benefited from playing 2nd fiddle ...

Re: Votes vs Gold Coast
It's nice to be spoiled for choice this week! 5. Rooey - his hard leading in the fwd 50 was a big reason we won today 4. Jones - haven't seen ablett shut down like that for quite a while (maybe was injured or dreaming of what he'll do with his millions in the off-season) 3. Monty - little dude still...

Re: Kosi to play his 200th
Justin, consider wrapping yourself in bubblewrap all week . When crossing the road, look to the left, look to the right and then look to the left again. If the road is clear of traffic, walk straight across the road, don't run, walk straight across the road. Before showering make sure their is no so...

Re: Going early today
IN the paper the bookies had us favourite??? We're third bottom??? Think we'll have a good crack today but we're an injury riddled mixture of babies and just about to retire geriatrics playing a team with 4 more wins than us. How they hell are we favs??

Re: Okay Mr Watters show us you can coach?
I'm not sure why people are so certain that next year will be worse than this year. I am not claiming that I know it will be better, but seeing as our list is very young, it stands to reason that a year forward will be a year of improvement and not decline. Port Adelaide 2013, Adelaide 2012 and Wes...

Come on, lets have some positivity towards Mr Dal Santo: Will be a revered one-club player to build our culture for the next gen to build on ("if I have seen far, it is because I have stood on the shoulders of giants") We need all the experienced mids we can get with Hayes struggling to ge...

Re: Anyone hear Ross Lyon on Grandstand ABC?
Just a quick question..how many CEOs and Presidents of their club take part in drafting and recruiting? Just thought i'd echo the Saints guy who rang into SEN last week pointing out how Westaway could have sunk the Saints unknowingly when he insisted against the fans and coach that we wouldn't get ...

Maybe keep Milney in because I think it will be his final two games for his career and deserves to get two more in front of a home crowd.

Re: Bottomed Out?
The second half blowouts have been disappointing. But its indicative of a young team that played hard contested footy for the first half of the year and just fell short (unlike Melbourne who played soft dishonest footy). Injuries and length of the season have taken their toll. Next year they should ...

Re: List management conundrums...
Although Ben is the best of the 4 ruckman (Ben, Hickey, Stanley, Pierce) at the moment, the loss we take as a result of him not being in the team is relatively small. So we trade Ben. What happens if Hickey gets injured? So Stanley now has to learn the full time ruck position as well? Or throw Pier...

Re: List management conundrums...
I don't think we will do any deal to get the no 1 pick. I can't see Watters betting the farm on any one player like that particularly if it means losing Ben (unless he really wanted to go to GWS I guess). I think no. 3 will be used for the best mid available. Can't make up my mind about Jonesy. He's...

Re: who gets tagged at the saints the most
Dal can pinpoint passes in the fwd 50 - that's what gives opposition coaches cold sweats so that's who they put their best stopper on. As great as Jack is he's not at that level yet with his kicking and poise. Another reason to keep Dal otherwise Jack becomes the no. 1 target.

Re: lack of midfeild goals
As I remember when the fab-four were at their peak - Hayes Goddard, Dal, Ball they kicked quite a few. But then Goddard became a sweeper, Hayes became more in and under, Dal got hard tags, Ball had groin problems limiting his kicking and then left :( I think Watters is trying to develop a much wider...

Re: Was that Big Ben's worst game ever?
The great thing is we have some depth in the ruck department. Ben is going to have to keep improving to keep his place as the number 1 ruckman. If he's not good enough in the end, and is overtaken by Hickey so be it. That is the sort of competition you want to be a great side.

Re: Curren
He's looking more effective at AFL level with each game which is encouraging. What I'm finding interesting is that we seem to be developing a list with virtually all onballers that can play as BOTH inside AND outside players. Jack, Armo, Curren, Minch, Newnes, Saunders etc all are tough enough to wi...

He's kind of in no mans land at the moment - not playing like a lead up player but not big enough to be a power forward. He does have a beautiful pure leap at the football and when extends his arms is hard to beat. They didn't stick today.

Re: saints v swans match thread
The onballers can only keep AFL level pressure up for 1 or two quarters max. Then they totally drop off and the opposition have time and space to work it up the field way too easily. I am worried about our fitness staff now.
