Re: Eli in the box
Stress fracture, the club never clarified if it's 2nd metatarsal (most common, also known as march fracture because new army recruits get them when they suddenly increase their weight bearing exercise) or navicular, another classic weightbearing overload injury in runners...management is not too dis...

Eli in the box
Just saw a picture of Eli in the commentry box on the Saints webpage in the Twitter feed. Great to see him up and about. It looked like he was wearing a humeral stabilising brace or a U-Slab which is a large preliminary way to stabilize the humerus post fracture and in Eli's case surgical fixation. ...

Re: Billy Longer
Love the Brodie Grundy comparison, but I can't agree that they're at the same level at the moment IMO...Grundy is already an out and out gun!! Takes big marks, kicks goals, is heaps physical in the hit outs and also has quality disposal. He's taking on and beating the comps best ruckman in his first...

Billy Longer
Thought he was great last night - competed hard all night in the tap outs and never gave up...saw plenty of good running hard to get to contests and impact. Loved his 2nd and 3rd efforts at clearances following up the tap work...some of his stuff was actually funny to watch as he tried so hard and o...

Re: What's with our slow starts?
Younger players will continue to struggle to adapt and think things through during a quarter, especially the first quarter if things are not going the right way in a hurry...its something that hopefully will come with more games across the board, that ability to adjust, and step up when needed to fi...

Re: I rate jack but
I agree that Steven will never be the most skilled player; but at his best his explosive acceleration breaks lines, he's got excellent goal smarts (is a proven goal kicking mid), he finds space in the forward 50, is a good extractor of the ball and is probabaly average by foot on his right and has a...

Re: I rate jack but
Richo definently talked about the possibility of resting him as he's struggled with fitness since being 'rushed' back into the side...I haven't read anywhere that his foot is still troubling him, just that he's found it tough to run out games due to a lack of ability ot train fully and recover betwe...

Re: Changes for Gold Coast
Good point Jonesy and he'll most likely stay in...but for developments sake, I would have thought it's a chance for Curren and Weller to be our go to guys as the next generation. Ps: it looked like curren was running with Mark Murphey last night, but not as tight as other tgs he's laid...Murphy ende...

Re: Changes for Gold Coast
Changes:
1. Weller to play a full game, in place of Jones (Dropped), for Ross or Milera
3. Possibly Gwilt out. Webster probably should be dropped aftera string of pretty poor games, but persevere through a rough form patch, like Newnes.
4. Dunnell in.

Re: Put a line through...
Who should we put a line through - I don't think we should put a line through anyone after last nights game IMO. Most players did some good things, and even those that had stinkers have been good throughout the year. OUr reserves got smashed and knowone really had a blinder, so other than injury and...

Re: I can't figure out how to use Jack Newnes
Newnes is actually pretty quick, it's meant to be one of his attributes. He started the year of well, playing mainly on a wing, in a bit of a Farren Ray type roll, and he looks best when using his long raking kicks into 50. Started the year off very well, and for me he's almost a bit of a barometer ...

Re: Time for Roo to move up the ground
Good thread...I thought straight after watching the game about if it would be good for Roo to be trialled in a Richo type way on the wing just roaming up and down and having a forward line of Stanley, Lee and Siposs, Billings and another small forward type, schneider, Milera, Saunders, Weller etc......

Re: Round 8 Team
Agree with the above comment, certain players seem to have been given more leeway...savage and Maister come to mind whilst Ross, simpkin and "the do" copped the axe quickly...frustrating but I guess we all have players we like and those we don't rate and if that's not in line with the coac...

Re: Kosi on Open Mike
Would loved to have had kosi talk more about the Watters debacle...I got the feeling he held back, but reading between the lines, players weren't playing for the coach compared to now under Richo and kosi got dicked around by Watters over playing his 200...IMO watters always came across as blatantly...

traditional apprenticeship
I was reading something Brisbane coach Juston Leppitsch was saying about hoping he could get 20-40 reserves games into some of his kids before exposing them to AFL, but how their raft of injuries had not allowed this... It got me thinking about how few players for us have actually really done a morw...

Re: Injury Update
No - I don't think so. Judd had surgery on an achilles pre season, actually recovered pretty well from it...Just unlucky with the Hammy...unfortunately I think our man Sam Fisher is starting to be the 2-3 week man, actually we've got a couple of them in the last few years...Fisher and Schneider... U...

Pretty exciting to see the big guy developing so well...I can't help but think about how bad mike pike was at kicking and collecting possessions around the ground when he started playing at the AFL level, he used to look so lost ...the swans persevered and got real reward (I know Pike came from a ru...

Re: Dempster as a Forward
Don't think so this late in his career. I think he's very useful down back and if we play better as a team, this sort of move shouldn't be needed. We have other long term forward pospects should the coaches want to try something IMO.

Players to look out for in the 2nd half of the season
The following players are ones i'm really hopeful of having an impact on the second half of the season; Tom Lee - Hopefully fit and builds on his 10 or so games last year and develops as a legitamate forward target at AFl level Arryn Siposs - Can this talented 3rd tall forward option finally put it ...

Re: Changes against Blues
I'd like to see Siposs, Ross, Milera, Dunstan, Shenton and "The Do" come in. Out; Geary (inj), Gwilt, Savage, Saunders, Jones, ?Weller (Ross got dumped after 1 x lacklustre showing, so I figure its reasonable). I think Newnes and Webster just about warrant being dropped, but would rather s...

Re: Hickey- Foot Injury
"Foot injury" is such a vague term and pretty dissapointing that the club gives it's fans such skinny detail on the actual nature of the injury. If it's a stress reaction, be conservative most likely of either the navicular or the 2nd metatarsal, it's straight up a 6-8 week recovery, no sh...
