Re: Our Ruckwork
Absolutely agree with apples on this one. Whilst McEvoy is still relatively young in comparison to the elite rucks of the comp, I can never see him having either the strength and certainly not the leap to compete with the premium ruckman of the competition. Well spotted up on Doyle too, staggering i...

Re: Considered criticisms of the Thommo years
I think GT has been vindicated if you look at the 2012 team stats re: - tap/hitout stats vs clearances. The team stats showed WCE had 15 extra hitouts on average (compared to the overall AFL team average) - thanks to their 2 "master" tap ruckmen - but that clear hitout advantage didn't tra...

Re: The All-Time St Kilda Left Footers XXV
Sorry plugger66, was Darren, I knew it started with 'D'. Wore number 21 from memory. Also from around the same era was Tim Allen who went onto Hawthorn I believe. Handy player for a short period.

Re: Considered criticisms of the Thommo years
My only main criticism of the GT coached teams was our inability to turn games of footy when it wasn't going our way. We were very much front runners, that isnt necessarily a bad thing. If a team were to get out to a lead of +20 points against us it was all over. I very much enjoyed the 2002-2006 ye...

Re: Hi Saintsational......again. Its been a long time!
In 2009 we had an attacking game plan. We were about +20 inside fifty at half time. It wasn't Lyon's fault that players missed easy shots or goal umpires stuffed up. In 2010 we were boring but with a lot of injuries and turmoil off field did super well just to make it to the GF. The biggest problem ...

Re: Captain 2013
I'm of the belief that McEvoy is a terrific leader and could very well be a future captain of the club. But as many have mentioned earlier his tap work particularly in the middle needs a lot of improvement. Only have to look at how many opposition ruckman polled votes against us in particular the ma...

Re: Ladder Predictions now NAB cup is done and dusted
Thanks Sainter K, I've followed the saints since 1988, been very lucky to see many good times from the plugger days at Moorabbin, to Harves running amok at Waverley and now docklands. Sitting in the stands when BJ took "That mark' was the first time where I actually believed this might be the d...

Re: Ladder Predictions now NAB cup is done and dusted
West Coast Geelong Hawthorn Collingwood Fremantle Adelaide Carlton Richmond Sydney Essendon St.Kilda North Melbourne Brisbane Port Adelaide Melbourne Western Bulldogs Gold Coast GWS Geelong still have a pretty good team despite their retirements, plus 7 or so games at home is a massive advantage. Ad...
