Re: Best 5 home and away wins of the modern era
My memory can be hazy at times but I'll bring up a couple of left field games from 1992 to 2003 that people may have forgotten about. 1992 - Rd 12 Saints 10.17.77 vs Pies 11.10.76 huge Queens birthday crowd remembered for a half time brawl time and the infamous Ken Sheldon spray to Devenport. Re: How will our key forwards structure up?
I wouldn't worry too much about Brucey's form. He copped a nasty injury late in the Hawthorn game mid season from a knee to the back by Gibson with a heavy landing. It restricted him for the remainder of the year, some weeks he had more mobility than others. It was a credit to him that he was able t...

Re: Which club to you hate the most?
I've always disliked Essendon. They are my number 1 team even before the peptides scandal. Probably years of being belted by Sheedy teams hasn't helped. Carlton I disliked but did respect them despite the cheating. Now they are amusing. Can't stand Nth Melb, supporters annoy me, Brad Scott esp after...

Pretty happy this bloke is coming on board. Well done to the club.
I can see him ending up as a cult figure a bit like Fraser Gehrig. A new breed of carpet snake, Jake the Snake Carlisle. Hopefully we can facilitate a trade without giving away pick 5

Re: Creating a cauldron atmosphere at St Kilda Games
I'm all for the home made flag idea. I think at times our flags etc in comparison to other supporter groups are a little sterile. I'm not sure of all the rules and permutations around that but if you look at Hawthorn, Collingwood, Richmond in fact most clubs they have banners supporting particular p...

Re: Backline
A player we might look at is Lachie Plowman from GWS. Top 10 draft pick that was a backman, had a couple of seasons ruined by injury. GWS is a gold mine right now with quite a few elite talents not getting games at the moment. Similar to Josh Bruce quality will drop of that list.

I am a massive buyer of this bloke and have been for some time as my old man knows. He will be an elite player for us. A number of times I saw him rove to Longer today, that is the future right there. That combination is going to be vital moving forward. Ross has the ability to see things that many ...

Re: Schneider's season
I have been a very big fan of Schneider's over the years he has been at the club. He has a superb football brain. I'm of the view his foot skills have dropped slightly due to the hamstring injuries he has had over the years and playing through the midfield now. Junior has summed up Schneider's seas...

Re: Schneider's season
Going into Saturdays game Schneider was fifth in our team for contested possession, second in score assists, fifth in score involvements, fourth in clearances. He was also seventh in disposal efficiency, and of our midfielders he was second only to McKenzie and was disposing of the ball 6.8% better...

Re: Playing the oldies: squeezing out all the juice?
This pension off the old players conversation that seems to happening quite a lot is absurd. Our focus this early in the season should be to win games of football. We need a carrot for the old types Roo, Fish, Montagna etc to be out there and performing. Sure, we wont be playing finals for quite a w...

Discussed with a couple of others should we head to the mail exchange for cheaper beers and a look at the horses. Decided we'd stick on as might see a few young players show something. Didn't expect that much! Thought we were going to throw it away when we started keepings off with 2 mins 50 still l...

Re: Reverse of 1999 Hawthorn curse
End of the game one of their supporters sooked it up and headbutted my old man. Police were quick to move then thankfully as it could have turned nasty. So you don't call some random boofhead headbutting your old man nasty? They must breed them tough out your way aaron! :D From my experience, quiet...

Reverse of 1999 Hawthorn curse
i remember the infamous 1999 Hawthorn debacle like it was yesterday. We gave it to Shane Crawford all day in particular Spider. Riewoldt copped similar treatment yesterday. It almost felt like we'd lost a final that day at Waverley. It was utterly embarrassing and scarred us for many years. Any side...

Re: Is The Pelican Weird Or What?
Jury still out on how we performed in the draft. We should have taken Petracca in a lot of people's opinion including mine and there was a reason Goddard slid to 21, he is no world beater. We needed to add midfielders and quality ones and in both drafts have added one midfielder in McKenzie, who is...

Re: we might have competition for next years spoon
The dogs will be pretty good IMO Killer young midfield, dangerous forwardline. Our only chance is if the bombers receive decent bans, but even then they will probably get some assistance. Agreed, honestly reckon 2-3 wins might see us out for 2015. Depending on the bombers ban we might beat them. On...

Re: Saints- Pass or Fail for Trade Period?
Stanley was dropped to Sandringham mid season for poor form, his biggest issue is his lack of intensity. At times he looks like he could tear a game a new one. He will take a spectacular mark in the first qtr and then go missing. At 3 qtr time you'd be wondering where the hell has he been. I'm happy...

Re: Saints- Pass or Fail for Trade Period?
We bring in Tim Membrey who from all accounts is more of a Gunston type forward. He reads ok on paper, we effectively get him for nothing. So this year we will gain: Membrey, pick 21. We lose: Stanley and pick 60 How I assess Pass or Fail is what we did with our available picks, and did we improve ...

Re: Saints- Pass or Fail for Trade Period?
I'm of a different view. Initially I was disappointed. I'm extremely keen on Petracca despite the little footage I've seen of him. We need midfielders and plenty of them. I don't have an issue trading Stanley, an athlete more than a natural footballer. He could be a useful player for Geelong, pick 2...

Re: Congratulations Nick- All Australian
Love reading all the Riewoldt hate that is flying around from random people on twitter. I didn't think he'd get in, but was thoroughly deserved. Will be on 6 votes after 2 rds. His stats match any of the other forwards. Champion player, well done Roo!
